Amelia needs someone like me, someone who knows how to school her in the art of love and give her more pleasure than she could ever imagine.

I force myself to stop that train of thought when I feel myself hardening in my pants.

I slam the door in Michael’s face and look back over at my sleeping angel.

No, I definitely can't trust a male to watch over.

So, I call the only female I trust.

ChapterThree

Amelia

Iwake up slowly again, but this time when I open my eyes, it's not Julian I see hovering over me. Instead, it's an old lady with a wrinkled face and bright green eyes. She’s staring down at me curiously.

I gasp and jump, pressing my back against the headboard.

“Who are you?” I demand, wondering if I'm just hallucinating one bad dream to the next. You know how whenever you keep dreaming that you're awake, but you're really not? You're still dreaming. I'm wondering if something like that is what's really going on. First, I dreamed I was awake and that Julian took me. Now, I’m dreaming up this old woman.

“Calm down, child. I'm not going to harm you,” she tells me. “I'm Glenda,” she introduces herself in a voice that is surprisingly smooth and youthful-sounding for her years. It contrasts starkly with her appearance. I take in her graying hair that’s long and wavy and her wrinkled appearance. The woman looks like she's over a hundred years old, yet her voice is that of a young woman.

I blink in confusion and raise a hand up to my head as another headache overtakes me.

Noticing my movement, the woman picks up a glass from the nightstand table and hands it to me. “Here. Drink this. It will help.”

I look at the clear liquid suspiciously.

She cackles as if she can read my thoughts “No, it's not drugged. It's just water, child.”

I glance into her vividly green eyes once again, and for some reason, I believe her, so I take the glass from her and take a tiny sip.

The cool liquid flows over my parched throat soothingly.

“Where’s Julian?” I ask her cautiously.

“The king is in a council meeting,” she tells me frankly.

I blink as I recall the way he told me he was my king. I don't know what I thought that meant, but I guess I didn't truly realize he really is the king of wherever we are. The Nether World, he said.

“Yes, I do believe I see it,” Glenda mutters to herself as she studies me. She cocks her head slightly to the side, and I fidget under her assessing gaze.

“See what?” I ask her in confusion.

She pats my hand in a grandmotherly fashion. “Nothing for you to worry about right now, child.”

Sudden anger flares in my chest. I've been ripped from my world in the span of one night, and everyone keeps calling me a child on the day when I finally gained my legal adulthood.

“I'm not a child,” I snap. “I wish everyone would quit calling me that.”

The old woman merely raises an eyebrow at me as if my temper tantrum has proven me to be exactly what she called me.

I press my lips together and seethe in silence. Glenda surprises me when she smiles. It’s a full snaggletooth grin. She cackles before she muses out loud, “Yes, I can certainly see what Julian sees in you.

At the mention of Julian, I press her for answers. “Who is he?Whatis he? Why am I here?”

She stares at me for a moment before she answers, “Julian is the king of this realm. And he's a celestial.”

“A celestial?” I interrupt her. “Like an angel?”
