“I’m not sure I want to see what’s inside, princess.”
I roll my eyes and unwrap it.
He stares down at the positive pregnancy test. I can’t read his expression, and my nerves make me want to scream. Is he happy? Afraid?
“I took it this morning. I wasn’t sure, so Emiliya and Galina took me out to get more tests. I don’t know how to find them myself, and everything’s in Russian, so I needed their help. They’re in the other room, I can take them, and—”
He grabs me, kisses me, and hugs me so hard I think I might explode.
“This is fucking amazing! How did this happen?”
“You see, when a man loves a woman—”
He squeezes me harder. “You’re amazing. Our baby!” He releases me and stares at my belly. “My god, we have to go back home right now. You can’t have a baby in fucking Moscow. No way is my child going to be born in some Soviet hospital.”
I kiss him gently. “Relax. We’ve got a lot of time.”
“I’m booking a flight right now.”
“Your father will be furious. We have another six months to go.”
“He’ll get over it. This is more important than some absurd punishment.”
“Maxim.”
“I love you, Siena. I love our unborn baby. And I want to marry your hot ass right this fucking second. You need a doctor, and checkups, and prenatal vitamins, and—”
“Maxim.”
He takes a breath. “Yes?”
“I love you. Let’s go home.”
He kisses me slow and deep and holds me tight.
“I’ll get tickets for the girls too,” he says quietly. “We’ll all go back early. Mother will be so happy.”
“I’m terrified of how your father’s going to react.”
“He’ll get over it when he hears there’s a grandchild coming. I’ll promise him five more.”
“Five more? Try two more.”
“Three more. We’ll get nannies.”
I grin and kiss him. “Whatever you want.”
