“I don’t think I told you much about it.There’s a new resort and casino opening in Las Vegas in September called the Helix Club.It’s going to be like nothing else on the strip.We’re talking over-the-top luxury, no expense spared, classy sophistication, but what really makes it unique is that it will be a BDSM-themed resort where guests can indulge their deepest, darkest fantasies in the City of Sin.”
“That’s a pretty good idea,” I say.“I’m surprised no one has thought of it before.”
Emmett nods.“In anticipation of the grand opening, the hotel has come up with a brilliant publicity strategy to showcase the resort—a reality show calledThePower Games.It’s actually quite impressive.The whole show will take place and be filmed at the Helix hotel, and contestants will vie for the title of the Helix Dom and the Helix sub.There will be BDSM challenges, as well as individual training and play between each couple, and viewers will vote off one couple after each episode until there’s one Dom and sub left.”He grins.“It’s kind of like an X-rated cross betweenSurvivorandTheBachelor.”
I stare at Emmett, slightly dumbfounded.“You and I live in totally different worlds.How can they televise that?”
“It will be offered on pay-per-view, and based on the interest so far, they’re anticipating over two hundred million in pay-per-view sales.It will be great exposure for me career wise.There’s a one-million-dollar grand prize for both the winning Dom and the winning sub, and a half-million-dollar prize each for the runners up.In addition, both the winning Dom and sub will be offered jobs at the Helix.”
“Wow,” I breathe, trying to fathom what that kind of money would mean.“Whoever’s financing this hotel must be loaded!”
Emmett nods.“It’s a bit of a mystery exactly whoisfinancing the hotel.I think it’s another layer of the publicity plan to create some intrigue and mystery to add to the buzz about the resort, but whoever it is clearly has a ton of money and some pretty astute business sense.”
“Clearly,” I echo.“This is fantastic!And I’m so happy for you that you got accepted.But I don’t see how this is going to help my situation.”
Emmett sets down his fork and looks me in the eye.“As a Dom contestant on the show, I can bring a sub.I want you to go onThe Power Gameswith me.”
