He groaned softly in my ear as his body tensed, holding me close as he came. He pressed a lingering kiss to my neck then breathed in deeply. He wasn’t the only one breathing deeply.

We leant against each other, fighting for breath, for a few moments before he withdrew and tucked himself back in his trousers.

“You knew,” I accused, still panting.

“Knew what?”

“Knew it was my first time.”

He shrugged. “You said Apollo had never touched you.”

“So that means no one else has?”

His half-smirk was all cocky arrogance. “You’re a good little princess,” he reminded me.

“And you still just…went for it.”

He looked me over. “Didn’t see you complaining.”

He scooped up my ripped panties from where they’d fallen and touched them to his nose.

I nodded to him. “Thanks.” And held my hand out for them.

He shook his head and slowly brought them away from his nose. “These are mine, now,” he said as he put them in his back pocket.

I scoffed as I smoothed my skirt over my knees like that would help in the naked feeling, or the cum dribbling down my leg.

“Suit yourself. And I wasn’t complaining. I was…”

“What?” he scoffed. “Thought I’d be gentle, make it special?”

“You don’t have to be a dick.”

“That’s what you want from me, princess,” he said, leaning into me again. “You want me to fuck you with all the hate we have for each other.”

If it was anything like that had been? Yes. Yes, I did want that very much. That and quite possibly much more.

“Pleasure doing business with you,” I said sarcastically as I slid off the pool table.

He caught my wrist as I passed him and looked me dead in the eye. “Apollo never knows.”

My heart thudded. “Of course not.” Then, to cover, I scoffed. “Once never hurt anyone.”

His hand slid over my stomach and his lips dropped to my ear. “You tell yourself that the next time you need my cock between your legs.”

My heart thudded again. For an entirely different reason. “There won’t be a next time.”

“There shouldn’t be, but I guarantee there will.”

I pushed him away and walked out, determined there was never going to be a next time.

Annoyingly, when I crawled into my bed soon after, it was much easier to fall asleep than it had been all week. I still dreamt about Valen, but I minded ever so slightly less.

I’d also completely forgotten about the book I’d been reading when he’d walked in…

Chapter Ten

The next morning, I didn’t have much choice in going about my life like nothing had changed because my alarm didn’t go off.
