“Plus, it’s just really sweet.”

He chuckled as he held the door to the boys’ dorm open for me. “Plus, it’s really sweet,” he agreed.

“Your mum would probably faint from excitement,” I said as we started up the stairs.

He nodded. “Oh, I’ve no doubt.”

“Where were they married? Your parents?”

He scratched his head. “Amalfi Coast. Yours?”

“The Isle of Bute,” I answered with a grin.

“Scotland?”

I nodded. “Oh, yes. Family tradition.”

“Your mum’s side then?”

“Yep.”

“Her family has a place there, don’t they?”

“If by place, you mean castle, then yes.”

He smiled warmly as he opened his door for me. “So, are we expected to be wed in the family castle on the Isle of Bute?”

In a perfect world, we would. I’d spent years fantasising about my wedding being so similar to my parents’ but modernised of course. And yet, I’d given up the dream five years’ earlier.

“Mum would no doubt love it,” I said. “But let’s not pretend that Archer Callahan would allow it for his only son.”

Apollo sighed. “No, I guess not.”

I shrugged as I dropped onto his couch. “It’s okay. If we really wanted, we could just go to the closest registry office and really piss him off.”

Apollo laughed and sat beside me. “I like you like this,” he said, his arm sliding behind me.

“Like what? Cynical and sassy?” I teased.

He nodded as he leant towards me. “Like this.” He searched my eyes. “It’s like you’re being honest again, for the first time in a long time.”

“Are you suggesting I’ve been lying?”

He shook his head and his nose bumped mine. “No. Not lying. Not really. And it’s not hiding either. When we were little, you had this...fire about you.” He ran his fingers down my cheek. “It went away for so long. I didn’t notice until it was back. And, baby, is it back,” he chuckled.

“And that’s good?” I asked, fighting a smile.

His nose bumped mine on purpose this time. “It’s fucking amazing.”

He pressed a kiss to my lips and things heated quickly. Apollo’s hand slid up my side to cup my breast, as the other went to the back of my neck.

Suddenly, he was leaning his forehead to mine.

“Are you a virgin?” Apollo asked me.

I hesitated.

Did I lie? Did I tell him the truth? What if he asked more questions?
