"It’s questionable if he had any intention of returning when you left for France or if he never had anything of value in the place," he tells Nate as he hands the computer over to me.

Something registers in Nate’s brain. "I’ve never been to his place." He locks eyes with his head of security, then me.

George doesn’t show any reaction, but I squint at him. "How long have you known him?"

"Long."

"You think he’s been spying on you this entire time?"

"At this point, I wouldn’t rule it out." He blows out a breath. "Let me see how far back I can search his bank account. His business cell phone was clean, but he could easily have a personal device I don’t know about. And if he uses a burner, there is no way for me to find that without a receipt."

"So, we’re back to square one." I grind my teeth. The urge to throw something makes my hands twitch.

"Not yet."

After watchingNate for another couple of hours and learning that his curse vocabulary is as extensive as my own—if not larger—my patience is wearing thin.

He has run into several roadblocks, and Hank's laptop was useless. All it had was company documents—which Hank was supposed to have—and porn. A lot of porn. To the point where even the guy in me who wants to jump his girlfriend every possible occasion had to cringe.

I yell at Lilly’s brother to work the fuck faster and to suck it up since his stab wound didn’t hit any major organs. To which George tells me to go cool off for a while.

Whatever.

My ass is asleep anyway, and I need to move.

Entering the kitchen, the clock on the stove shows it's past seven. Den and Wes are—I do a double-take. "Are you guys playing Monopoly?" I stop next to the kitchen island, rubbing my eyes.

My friends turn, and Wes shrugs. "We found it in one of the cabinets in living room number two. It seemed like a better option than watching a movie." He tilts his head toward Denielle. "This one wouldn't sit still, and it was driving me nuts."

"Fuck you, Sheats," D murmurs while rolling the dice.

I take in the board. Each of them has a whole battery of houses and hotels and an even bigger chunk of multicolored money in front of them.

"How long have you been playing?" I raise an eyebrow.

"Dunno, man." My best friend taps the screen of his phone. "About three hours."

I bark out a laugh then sober. "Listen, uh... I’m sorry I’ve been holed up with Nate. I—"

"Rhys." Denielle brings my full attention to her. "We get it. We do. I’d take my mother’s entire stash of benzos right now if I had access to them."

I hold the air in my lungs until my chest begins to burn, and I let fresh oxygen into my body. My gaze swivels between my two friends before I pull Den off her stool and wrap my arms around her. She instantly returns the embrace and buries her nose in the crook of my neck.

Her shoulders shake, and she hiccups. "Just bring her home."

I cup the back of her head and hold on just as tight as my gaze locks with Wes. "She’ll be home soon."

I have no clue if my words hold any truth, but I have to believe that between Nate, George, and my father, they will find Lilly.

We talk a little longer. My father informed both of their parents that Den and Wes are in LA, visiting Lilly with us. Denielle had to come clean to her parents about Charlie, who immediately agreed to let her stay with us. Her dad chewed her out for jumping on a plane without telling them, but the mass orgy her long-time boyfriend was involved in quickly overshadowed her father's anger for her purchasing a first-class ticket across the country. Mr. and Mrs. Sheats already knew where Wes was since Dad had cleared it with them before he got on the jet with us.

Dad.

"Where is my father?"

Wes is about to take half of D's cash after she landed on one of his streets with three hotels. "Haven't seen him in a while."

When there isno trace of my father on the first floor or the second, I try the third. He’s nowhere to be found.
