“Little doe,” he whispers roughly, pressing his forehead to mine.

“I mean it, my wolf, I’ll kill them all. I’d do much, much worse to keep you whole.” Gripping his face, I brush my lips across his again. “So do what you need to and come back to me. Always come back to me.”

“Forever,” he murmurs before he pulls away. I watch the change come over him. I never realized how much he had softened around me, how much his face had relaxed and started to show emotions until he’s back to wearing that hard expression on his face. It’s devoid of all feelings, blank and empty. The cold eyes of the killer I first met suddenly stare back at me.

My heart pulses for the boy he was and the man he has become because of monsters like these, but it doesn’t matter.

I love both versions of him equally.

“You are going to tell me everything you know about the operation at Mercy Village Group Home.”

“That’s what you want after all these years?” The man laughs, feeling surer of himself now that he’s heard Ghost’s demands. But then, just as Gray’s expression turns lethal, a gleam of triumph enters this devil’s eyes. “Or perhaps you just wanted to see me. Is that it, little boy? You missed the way your master touched you? I’ll be honest, I prefer them young and innocent. It’s a struggle to get hard otherwise, but for you? I’ll always make an exception.” He grins evilly, revealing the monster underneath.

I see Gray’s shoulders tense as he strikes, smacking the man so hard the chair rocks. “Shut the fuck up. I want names, locations, everything you know. Now. You do that, and I’ll make your death quick. Otherwise, I’m going to spend all night cutting you to tiny little pieces,” Gray warns, and the promised threat even makes me fearful.

The man hesitates, but he saw it—the chink in Gray’s armor—and he pounces like every predator does.

“I think you missed the way I touched you. Admit it. Why else would you come here with such a feeble request? No, sweet boy. You missed your master, didn’t you?” he goads, looking at me next. “Did you know he liked it? Did he tell you how much he craved my touch on his small body?”

“Do not talk to her!” Gray roars. “Not ever!”

“Oh, but that anger,” he coos, a sinister shiver running down his spine in delight. “Back then, he had so much of it. I see it’s still the same. The only time he wasn’t screaming and fighting was when my hand—” Gray smacks him again, screaming as he rains down hell on the man.

I just watch, knowing he needs to let it out. When he steps back, his fists bloody and chest heaving, I know he’s close to losing it, but if I let that happen, then I would never get him back.

The man spits blood on his perfect white rug and grunts at Gray. “Do you remember how you cried for me, boy? Begged and pleaded?” Gray stiffens as he talks, and Master chuckles. “You begged so sweetly, even while your body writhed for me, came for me.”

Fuck!

Disgust and fury wars inside me until I want to rip the man to pieces myself for what he did to my wolf, but Gray is always my first priority.

Right now, he needs me. I see it in the shaking of his body as he stumbles back, his face etched with horror as his past tries to pull him back into the darkness.

Well, tough shit, it can’t. It can’t fucking have him.

He’s mine.

“Gray, look at me,” I demand, forcing his lost eyes to me as I stop before him, blocking his view. “Only me. You are not back there; you are here with me.” I grab his bloody hand and press it to my chest over my thumping heart, letting him feel the organ that beats for him. “You promised, so come back to me, my wolf.”

“You remember how much you liked it, boy, don’t you?” The man chuckles, his voice nasally from his broken nose. “Oh, how you cried after, but during?” I glare over my shoulder at him as Gray jerks, a whimper escaping his lips. The man licks his bloody teeth as he watches Gray, playing on my love’s past nightmares and the horrors he inflicted on him. He’s taking him right back to that traumatized child that no one helped.

Fuck this.

“Oh, but you—” Before he can say another word, I grab Gray’s knife and turn, punching him square in the face so hard his head snaps back. Using his hair, I drag his gaze back to me.

“One more word, I dare you,” I seethe through gritted teeth.

“You little bitch. You have no idea. You could never comprehend. Do you think he has ever touched you like he touched—” I stab the knife into the man’s side, twisting it as he screams.

Laughing, I lean in. “Listen to how prettily you scream,” I purr, using his words against him. “I warned you. He’s mine, and you can’t fucking have him, so unless you want me to sit here and carve you to pieces and feed you your own cock, you’ll only speak when asked a question, understood?”

He nods slowly as I drag the blade out, making him scream and writhe. “All you bastards are the same, so strong and confident until it comes to taking the pain you so easily dole out, then you’re nothing. You’re weak. Pathetic.” I spit on his face, watching it drip down his cheek. “Nobody protected him then, but I will now. Remember that. If you think my wolf is crazy, then you’re in for a rude awakening with me. You haven’t seen what I’m willing to do for the people I love.”

Arms wrap around me, and then Gray hauls me back and away from the laughing demon bound to his chair. Gray drags me into the hallway where I’m instantly slammed into the wall when we’re both out of sight, making the plaster crumble. My legs automatically go around Gray’s waist as his lips descend in a furious attack on mine.

I let him hurt me, let him take what he needs.

His hands open my jeans before sliding inside and thrusting two fingers into my unprepared cunt.
