“Please,” the man begs. “I’ll tell you everything I know.”

“I know you will,” Gray replies calmly. “The question is, will it be before or after I cut off your balls and make you eat them?”

“You can’t—”

Gray doesn’t hesitate. He cuts through the man’s pants and, with a disgusted sneer on his lips, grabs the man’s balls and slices. I watch as he screams, all the while Gray using the hot iron to cauterize the wound, leaving his dick hanging. Gray stands and shoves the man’s balls into his mouth.

“Swallow. That’s what you used to tell me.” Covering the man’s mouth, he tips his head back, forcing him to swallow his own balls.

When Gray moves his hand, the man turns his head and throws up everything, including his balls.

Honestly, it’s the weirdest thing I’ve ever seen, but you’ve got to love a man who keeps his word.

We both wait as he gags and spews everywhere, even down himself as he cries and jerks in pain, pissing his pants in terror. When he stops, his head hanging as he sobs, Gray steps before him once again, ready for the next round of torture.

“Names,” he demands, voice brooking no argument.

The man begins to rattle off names and addresses of the few connections he made in the group home before pausing. “That’s all I know, I swear. I never knew who ran it.”

“How did they find you? How did you pay?” Gray demands.

“I-I don’t know.” Gray snarls, and the man jerks back. “I swear, I hired a prostitute, a boy before, and watched some videos online, but this man approached me, and he knew everything. He told me he could fulfill my wildest dreams and gave me a card. I paid by cash every time at the house. That’s it; that’s everything. I swear, I know nothing else.”

“Then you are useless to me now,” Gray mutters.

Without so much as a twitch, he snaps the man’s neck.

His death was too quick in my opinion, but this is Gray’s revenge, not mine.

When he turns to me, he seems more at peace, even if he’s still angry and haunted.

“Come on, little doe, our work here is done,” he tells me as he grabs his phone. “I’ll edit this and send his confession to his wife so she knows about the monster she was living with. She’ll know we did her a favor and saved her and her unborn child by killing the prick.”

“In a moment.” Grabbing a knife, I pull back the dead man’s head and get to work. When I step back, I admire my handiwork and grin at Gray as he chuckles.

Across his head, I carved ‘pedo bitch.’ This way the whole world will know who he really was and why he needed to die.

“Now we can go.” I nod, taking the hand Gray offers me and heading back to the car.

We leave the body and pain behind with each step we take forward.

CHAPTER21

Zoey

Ifall asleep on Gray’s couch while he works to compile lists and information on the names revealed. He grows more and more stressed when he can’t find someone called General.

I’m no use to him at this stage, and I will only serve as a distraction, so I decide to get out of the house and meet up with Cara for breakfast and spend some quality time with my bestie, especially since we lied and said we would be together all week. Plus, I think she’s feeling a bit neglected since I’ve become consumed with all things Gray, and I never want her to feel like that. I love my girl.

After breakfast, I wander for a bit before heading to my dorm and getting changed into my normal clothes. After all, it’s Sunday, which means it’s time for a family dinner, and after being MIA all week, I have no choice but to go, otherwise Alaric will track my ass down and lock me away forever.

Outside of their house, I blow out a breath before letting myself in. It’s only been a week, yet it feels like a lifetime ago since I was last here. Everything has changed, and my entire world has shifted to not only include Gray, but my past.

That’s something I need to discuss with Layla, but I don’t know how. She never brought it up, so my guess is either she doesn’t know what happened there or she wants to forget.

Inside, I find Layla cooking, or trying to. Alaric is attempting to pull her away, and as I lean into the doorframe, I smile as he twirls her around the room. A bright smile splits her lips before she laughs, so happy and carefree. I swallow, not wanting to taint their perfect life with the mess in my head.

I hate keeping things from her, and there’s so much I want to tell her, to ask her, but how can I ruin it today when she looks so happy? When she spots me, an even wider grin splits her face, and she smacks Alaric away as she hurries to me. Layla wraps me up in her arms, and for a moment, everything is right with the world.
