Me:Your call. Whatever makes it happen. Can’t wait to touch you.

SexyAF:I’ll be working. Grilling over fire. Cutting things with sharp knives. You too. No touching.

Me:*frown emoji*

SexyAF:How is this going to work again? I have a fancy SUV to pay for. I still need to take your money for lessons and meals, but I WILL NOT take money to date you. That feels dirty.

Me:Oh, I like dirty. My mind is fully engaged now.

SexyAF:Lucas!

Me:Ok, you teach and cook. All business. Then, you take off the chef’s coat and be my date. Cooking and teaching are on-the-clock in the chef coat. But when the chef's coat is off, you’re mine. Good enough?

SexyAF:Good enough.

“Who’s Sexy AF?” My nosy-ass brother asked over my shoulder.

“Emily.”

“What! You asshole, change that right now,” he said.

“Why? Are you saying Emilyisn’tsexy as fuck?”

“Lucas, I swear.”

I laughed. So easy to rile him. “Chill, Finn. It’s not Emily. She’s practically my sister.”

“Keep it that way, jackass.” He glared as he sat in his chair across from me at the huge old desk we shared. “Who is it really?”

I paused. “Jo.”

He sat up. “Wow. Congrats. Does she know you think she’s sexy as fuck?”

“Who’s sexy?” Emily strolled into the office wearing her biking gear and a big smile for Finn.

“Luc ...” Finn’s warning tone as he stared me down made me chuckle before answering.

“Jo.”

“The chef Jo? Sheissexy. That hair. Good for you, Luc. Are you guys dating, you know, for more than one night?”

Finn and Emily both looked at me with wide eyes, blinking like cartoon characters.

“Yes. I mean, she’s still my chef, but off the clock, yeah, we’re dating.” My expression probably revealed the depth of my excitement. I felt myself blushing.

Emily smiled, then her face turned stern. “Don’t break her heart, or you may have a mutiny if she stops making the meals for the crew.”

“This is uncharted waters for me. She’s sexy, and I like her,” I said.

“That’s a good start.” Emily winked and turned to Finn. “Okay, babe. I’m heading out with Angela for a ride. We’re cruising the daffodils to see if any bloomed yet, so we’ll bike past the fields in the northeast corner on our way out. I’ll let you know what I see.” Finn smiled big and casually placed his hand on her backside as she bent to give him a chaste kiss.

An image flashed in my mind of Jo coming in, bright with a smile only for me, her hair soft and wild around her shoulders. Maybe after a Friday farm meal, sneaking me an extra dessert with a promise to make me work it off later.

“Careful with the gooey eyes, bro. You almost look like you’re in love,” Finn said.

I rolled my eyes at him and woke my computer. I wasn’t in love, I didn’t think. I’d never been in love, so I wasn’t actually sure. All I knew was that the image of Jo and a life here with her didn’t make me run in the other direction, and that was definitely a first.

She was here.I walked to my front door anticipating the mouth-watering smells inside. Savory and spicy, as well as the sweet scent that was uniquely Jo.
