“Hey man, I see you’ve met my girl,” I said and placed my hand on the back of her chair.

Jo raised her brows at me but kept her smile. Damn right I was claiming her.

“That’s weird. Jo didn’t say anything about having a boyfriend when she sat down next to me,” he said with a teasing gleam in his eye and a wink for Jo.

“Watch it, or I’ll let the weights crush you the next time we lift at the gym.”

Rhys raised both palms and chuckled. “My hands are off.”

Jo swiveled on the barstool, angling her legs more toward me. Yes! I did a mental fist pump at her body language that said she was with me.

“You were telling me about a sailing trip you’re planning next summer,” she said to Rhys.

“Yep, to Alaska. The club sponsors a big trip. I did it in college before I was married. Now that I’m divorced, I’m getting back into some old hobbies. It’ll be a challenge to sail by myself, but I’ve been practicing with Mr. America’s Cup over there—” he nodded toward Jake pouring a glass of wine for Angela “—and I think I’ll be able to handle things on my own. Plus, the inside passage is more like a super-highway in the summer. No getting lost at sea.”

“Who’s the guy with Angela?” I asked.

“A guy she met mountain biking,” Jo said. “I think his parents own an island around here or something. Is that possible?” I nodded. “Angela wasn’t all that impressed by his money. But she likes to bike with him. She says they’re just hanging out.”

“Angela and her brother, Alex, have their own money,” Rhys said. “And she’s not impressed by much.”

Over the course of the evening, several drinks were finished, but not much food as we stood around the bar with our friends. Jo was feeling good, buzzed at least, so I stayed close.

“I should get going,” she said. “No more drinks.” Jake gave me the look, making sure she was covered. I nodded.

“Thanks for inviting me, ReeAnn. I had a great time,” Jo said.

“I’m glad. Sometimes we need a little more than yoga.” ReeAnn said with a wink and waggle of the wine bottle she was holding.

Jo raised her hand in a wave as we moved toward the door. “Y’all take care now.” Fucking adorable.

“I’ll give you a ride.” Standing in front of her, I leaned close to keep it private and, okay, steal a breath of her scent.

She steadied herself with a grip on my shoulder and pressed her lips to my ear. “Will you, Lucas?” Her low, raspy voice sent a shock down my spine. “Will you give me a ride?” I was fully hard in an instant.

I ran my nose along the soft skin below her ear. “Yes, I will, Sweetness. This weekend, if you want it, I will give you the ride of your life and more than once.”

She shivered. “I’ll want it.” Same page.

We stepped out into the cool, clear night. Jo’s inner vixen showed up little by little on our dates. She smoldered. With the additional lubrication of alcohol tonight, that little vixen was out in full force. I constantly reminded myself of the no-sex plan whileanticipationpinged between us, electrifying every touch.

Her eyes closed on a sigh, and she swayed against me. “What can we do tonight?”

“What do you want to do?” I whispered before inhaling another hit.

“Something sexy.” Her breath washed across my skin. “This dating thing is giving me blue balls.”

I laughed. This woman. “We’ll get there. But I like this dating thing. I’m living out some high school fantasies.”

“Well, I had some high school fantasies too.” Her hooded glance pulled me in, and she bit the corner of her enticing lip. I couldn’t have looked away if the world was falling down.

“You did? Tell me.”

Her eyes sparkled with mischief. “Okay, Hot Shot, let’s go.” She grabbed my hand and pulled.

I was sober; she was not, and I still barely kept up with her pace. The sway of her hips was mesmerizing. “Where are we going?”

“Parkin’?” She glanced over her shoulder with a wicked gleam.
