The guy leans in and places a hand on her shoulder as his head drops to her ear.

That’s it.

That’s fucking it.

My blood boils, and my fists clench.

All logical thought flies out the window.

She isn’t mine… so why do I even care?

They could be old friends… or just laughing and having a good time.

But I know a guy’s moves when I see them.

And leaning in close and touching the shoulder are definitely moves.

I storm over to them. “Hey,” I grit out, and Lo snaps her head in my direction. Her face brightens, and her beautiful smile, the one that’s reserved for me, overtakes her features. But at this moment, it doesn’t matter that she gives me that smile. I can’t think about anything besides who this guy is.

“Ty! Hi! Meet my new friend, Bobby. Bobby, this is Ty. He’s a friend from back home.”

“Hey, Ty. Nice to meet you.” The Bobby guy holds his hand out, but I only look at it.

“Lo, can I talk to you real quick?”

She looks at me, confused. But I also see a hint of embarrassment. What, because I didn’t shake this Bobby dude’s hand?

My fists clench harder. All I see is red. And I fucking hate it. I hate this reaction. But I couldn’t stop it if I tried.

“Yeah, what’s up?” she asks.

“In private, please,” I say, and she looks at Bobby, then me. She gives him a sheepish smile and says, “I’ll be right back. Sorry.”

Chloe follows me through the yard and out front. I walk on the driveway and over to the side of the garage, where the area is dark and private.

“Who was that?”

“Who?” Lo asks.

“Really? The guy you were just talking to. Who else?”

“Bobby. I already told you that.”

“So what? He’s just some friend?”

“What is your problem, Tyler? Why are you acting this way? I thought we were here to have fun. Bobby and I were just talking.” She narrows her eyes at me and stands there with her hands on her hips.

“Seemed like a lot more than talking to me.” Fuck, I’m such a dick, but I can’t help it.

Seeing her talking to him… fuck. It made me want to go ballistic.

“I can’t believe you right now.” Chloe throws her arms in the air before she folds them across her chest.

“What?”

“You! The way you’re acting! Do you hear yourself? We aren’t even together! Stop acting like a jealous boyfriend. I’ll talk to whoever I want to!”

Something comes over me.
