Fuck if I know. I’ve always done meetings in person. But from the way he’s looking at me, I know it won’t be that easy.

“I’ll think about it.” He smirks the same way he always does, and of course, he leaves himself with the upper hand.

I smirk back and tip my head to the side, taking the control back. “Fine. You have two days to decide before the offer is rescinded.”

“Oh, really? Two days, hmm?” Luca scratches his chin, and I notice the dark stubble lining his jaw. Fuck him for being so good-looking without a personality to match. I doubt there’s one hidden beneath all that arrogance, anyway. How can there be?

He turns toward the door but then stops and walks toward me. I take a few steps back, and my foot hits the wall, causing me to lose my balance.Shit. Keep it together, Nev.

Luca’s in front of me in seconds and close to my face once again. Dammit. Doesn’t he know what personal space is? Maybe he just doesn’t care since he pushes his way in and invades boundaries wherever he wants.

Just when I think his lips might touch mine for the second time in several minutes, he stops and whispers, “We both know you’ll be waiting by the phone for my call. Don’t waste too much time, boss lady, seeing as you’re not a fan.”

And then he’s out the door, shutting it loudly behind him and leaving me panting and out of breath.

Fuck! I want to scream. I hate him.

I fucking hate him.

Yet every single one of my nerve endings is alive and raring to go.

Like an animal in heat.

What in the actual fuck is happening?

Are lust andhatethe same thing? Or am I just losing it?

I opena new browser tab and navigate to Google. Time for a little detective work.

After that disaster of an interview, I went home and spent the evening nursing beer and pizza, ignoring my phone.

Including the message Jim left where he wants to talk about last week’s incident since Wesdecided to reportme. According to him, I got him kicked out for no reason, and I start trouble wherever I go.

It went up my ass sideways like he knew it fucking would. Wes needs to fuck off before I fuck up his world.

This morning, I spent two hours in the gym, contemplating my entire life. Fuck, I hate decisions. Now fresh from the shower, Idecided to conductsome research of my own. She wants an answer by tomorrow, which doesn’t leave me with much time.
