This can't be Cole … not the one I know. He doesn't love.

He takes my hands in his after brushing a piece of hair out of my face. “I came to bring you back.”

“Bring me back?” I pull my hands out of his and cross my arms.

“You don't belong up here. This isn't your home. This isn't you. Our beach is home. Ours.”

“How do you know where I belong? This looks like a nice place to live.”

“Crossgrove sucks.” He smirks, but I don’t laugh.

“How in the hell do you know? You’re awfully informative tonight.”

“I used to live here.”

“Another one of your mysteries, great.”

“Addi, please.” He takes my hands. “We both didn’t tell each other a lot, but we fell in love anyway. We have all the time in the world to tell each other if we’d like, but it doesn’t matter if I grew up here or you’ve dated Finn. The past is the past, and I love you, despite those things. I’m sorry for how things went down, but I’m not sorry with the result. I’m not sorry I love you.”

Tears run down my cheeks, but this time, it’s for a different reason.

“You make me a better me. And I want you. I love you so much.”

“I love you too,” I whisper. He loves me, he loves me …

He lets go of my hands and wraps his hands around my face, pulling me closer. His lips connect with mine, and it’s magic.

It turns frantic quickly, needing to fulfill ourselves after such a long time apart.

When he breaks away, I’m left gasping for air, drunk on his affection, lust and love swirling between us.

“Come home with me,” he whispers, “I have a surprise for you.”

He doesn’t need to ask me twice.
