“You were stumbling and slurring your words. You were definitely drunk.”

“Fine!” she half shouts, throwing her hands up in the air. “I was drunk. Are you happy?”

Her face is flushed, her chest heaving as she glares at me. Jesus, I want her so fucking bad, want to back her against the wall and kiss her anger away until there’s no animosity between us anymore.

“No,” I begin. “I was just–”

“Cool, well I’m not up for more rejection, thanks. If you would please leave me alone, that would be very appreciated.”

She slams the door in my face, and I glare at the piece of wood. I’ve never hated an inanimate object more.

Maybe I should just let this go. It’s her last night here, and I don’t really want to spend it fighting. It’s probably for the best that we both just pretend like nothing happened and try to move on with our lives.

My heart thunders as my chest grows painfully tight. I can’t leave things like this between us. I can’t forget her whispered confession, how she’s wanted me for so long. And that kiss… I will carry it with me until the day I die. There’s no recovering from Gwen. She’s branded on my heart and soul.

But she’s going to leave me tomorrow and I may never see her again. Sure, Sequoia is a small town, but I almost never venture off the ranch these days, so it’s not like I’ll just bump into her sometime.

I need to make this right. Tonight, before it’s too late.

I reach for the door knob before I can talk myself out of it and twist.

“I was just looking out for…. you…” I stutter out the last word as my brain finally processes what my eyes are seeing.

Gwen.

Naked.

So beautiful that it feels wrong to be standing instead of kneeling at her feet and worshiping her.

She grabs the blanket off of the bed, glaring at me as her cheeks burn bright red.

“I get it, Remy. I was drunk or tipsy or whatever. It doesn’t matter. Now get out!”

“You aren’t drunk now,” I say, the words falling from my lips before I can take them back.

“So?”

“So, do you still want me?” Her green eyes lock onto mine, and the world stops spinning as I wait for her answer. “Cause I want you more and more with every breath I take,” I admit, my feet shuffling forward without my permission. I can’t help it. I’m drawn to her, my body craving hers in the most intense way.

Gwen nods, her eyes never leaving mine.

“Need to hear you say it,” I murmur, reaching out to cup her face. Gwen leans into my touch, nibbling on her bottom lip.

“I wasn’t lying last night,” she whispers, her breath tickling my lips. “I think I’ve been half in love with you since the first time you grunted at me.”

Her green eyes sparkle with sass, and God, I’ve missed her giving me shit. I hated knowing I made her sad and stole her magic.

I rest my forehead on hers, rubbing our noses together. “Thank fuck,” I growl, sealing my mouth over hers. Gwen opens up for me, welcoming my kiss and meeting me stroke for desperate stroke.

She lets the blanket fall, pooling around our feet, and my hands automatically find her hips. I smooth my hands up, up, up her sides, eventually cupping her breasts. Gwen moans as I pinch her nipple, breaking our kiss.

“Jesus, Gwen, you’re gorgeous. So perfect. I can’t believe you’re mine,” I murmur.

“Yours?” she asks as I dip my head to her neck, kissing and licking my way down to her collarbone.

I didn’t mean to say that last part out loud, but fuck it. “Mine,” I repeat, licking her ample cleavage and softly biting down on her hardened little nipple.

Gwen moans, and I turn my attention to her other breast, giving it the same attention. I kneel down before her and kiss down her torso, savoring every inch of this goddess. Burying my nose into the apex of her thighs, I breathe in her scent and growl like a man possessed.
