“Well, that doesn’t seem fair when you’re sitting here like this. How about sexy stuffandice…” I try negotiating. “There are lots of things I could do to you without even moving my knee.” Cupping her breast, I rasp my thumb over her nipple.

“You’re a terrible patient, you know that?” Desire flares in her eyes in direct defiance of her mouth.

I lean in, biting her neck, loving the way she shivers against me. My dick is throbbing under her weight, every movement making me harder. “Mm-hm… I’m the worst.”

Tangling my hand in her hair, I hold her head to the side, running my lips over the smooth skin of her neck and nuzzling the spot under her ear. Julia lets out a little sigh, hips rolling in my lap. My cock is throbbing under her, dying to get inside her. I pull her earlobe between my teeth, and I’m filled with possessive pleasure when she says my name on a soft moan.

A booming knock on the front door breaks the quiet, and I let out a groan of frustration as I hear Asher and Lukas’ voices through the door. Jules looks toward the sound regretfully.

“Every time,” I mutter.

Julia laughs, dismounting carefully. She eyes me with a smirk as she straightens her dress. Then she hands me one of her little couch pillows.

“Here, hide your shame,” she says with a saucy wink.

“Like your panties aren’t wet…” I mutter, putting the pillow in my lap.

“Oh, they definitely are, but no one knows that but you,” Julia purrs in my direction, eyeing me like a lollipop she’s in the mood to lick.

“That’s not helping my situation, you know?”

She grins as she goes to open the door. “Yup, love you, babe.”

I throw my head back, a sound somewhere between a laugh and a groan making its way out of my throat.

Asher and Lukas walk into the living room, each carrying a six-pack of beer, followed by Julia, who’s giving her oldest brother a hard time. “I should have realized I had to be explicit when I said I’d fillyouin.”

Lukas gives her a devious look. “Really, you should have realized Asher doesn’t have a subtle bone in his body. I took one look at him and knew something was up.”

Asher is frowning, his long hair a mess as he runs his hand through it compulsively.

“You should have told us. We could have protected you. Weshouldhave been protecting you. Instead, I got to hear about this from the cops at the scene? Are you serious right now?”

Julia eyes her big brother, her lips pulling to the side regretfully. “I wanted to… I was worried about putting extra stress on Lilah. With Olive on her honeymoon and Luis out of commission, it was just too much to add to her pile… And no offense, but none of y’all can keep your mouths shut. Speaking of which, can we just keep this between the four of us for n—?”

She’s interrupted by another knock on the door but doesn’t have to waste her time going to open it. Lilah and Parker barge into the living room a second later, carrying brown bags from the bakery. Ben trails behind them, carrying his laptop bag, looking slightly guilty for intruding and waving at me apologetically.

Lukas grimaces at Julia. “I might have already told them what Asher told me.”

“Oh, for fuck’s sake,” Julia sighs, settling back on the couch next to me, crossing her arms in a huff. “See! This is why I didn’t say anything in the first place. You guys gossip like old biddies.”

Parker crosses the room, bouncing onto the couch next to Julia. “So what happened with this car crash? Lukas said Asher was shockingly light on details.”

“That’s because I didn’t have any to share,” Asher answers grumpily.

Lukas sits on the floor next to Parker’s legs, resting an arm on her thighs. She runs a hand through his hair adoringly.

“Spill it!” he says, rubbing his hands together and looking slightly gleeful. I swear, the dude loves gossip more than old ladies at church.

Everyone stares at Julia expectantly. She looks at me before rubbing her face. “Fine, it’s mostly settled now, anyway. Lilah sit down.”

Lilah laughs. “I’m on my feet twelve hours a day, I’m fine.”

Asher steers her toward the armchair. “Just sit, I want to hear this.” She rolls her eyes at him but lets him have his way, lowering herself into the chair carefully and resting her hands on her round stomach. Lukas passes out beers to everyone who isn’t currently pregnant, grinning like this is a party. Which… it almost feels like.

Julia purses her lips, thinking. “Last week, I caught a resident drinking at the hospital…” She fills them in, watching Lilah with a worried expression the whole time. If she was going to worry about anyone’s blood pressure, I think it should have been Asher’s. His face gets stormier with every sentence that comes out of Julia’s mouth, and by the time she’s telling them how I locked her in the closet, he’s practically shaking.

Asher jumps in, frowning so hard I’m almost surprised a little storm cloud doesn’t poof into being over his head. “So what now? This guy is in jail, but for how long? What do we do when they let him out on bail?”
