The pause of anticipation between them seemed to suggest that he was waiting for something, maybe a specific reaction from her, but damned if Rena knew what that was. It certainly piqued her curiosity, though. Was he rich and famous? Well known around here or abroad?

Even more intrigued, Rena ran her teeth over her bottom lip and crossed her legs, angling herself toward him so her breasts played peak-a-boo. The ploy worked, and his gaze went to her cleavage before he revealed a perfect smile that did things to her body that made Rena struggle to hold back a moan.

I bet he’s amazing in bed.

“I am,” Manuel said with a cocky smile, and Rena suddenly realized she’d said that out loud.

Oopsies!

Clearing her throat, she recovered quickly and boldly said, “I can’t wait to experience it for myself.”

The textured wall scraped her shoulder blades through the cotton T-shirt, abrading her skin almost painfully, but the way Kade was kissing her? Angel didn’t give a damn. She’d take every bruise and scratch and relish it.

He held her up easily, his muscular biceps flexing beneath her hands as he squeezed and massaged her butt. His mouth worked hers expertly, his tongue darting in and out of her mouth, his lips sucking and biting hers. There was no doubt he would leave marks, and she loved it.

“I’m getting addicted to you,” Kade said as he moved from her lips down to her neck, nipping the sensitive skin below her ear. Another mark to add to the myriad she was already hiding beneath her clothing. At the rate he was going, she’d never be able to wear her hair up again.

“Good,” Angel breathed, gripping his arms tighter as he swirled his tongue over her throbbing pulse, making her pussy clench with need.

She was so wet, she was afraid he would drown once he made his way between her legs to taste her—his favorite thing to do once he got her horizontal.

“Good?” he said with a chuckle.

“Yes,” Angel confirmed as she tipped her head back and moaned over a particularly nice spot he’d decided to focus on. “Means I get to keep you a little longer.” She had no misconceptions that he was going to hang around for the long haul. Men like him, who rode around on Harleys and dressed in leather and practically swung their dicks around as they walked, weren’t exactly the long-term relationship type.

Although, she’d been noticing some of the top members of the Spartans doing just that. But they were older than Kade, so maybe that made all the difference. Kade, though, was so freaking hot, he could get any woman he wanted. She didn’t imagine he was going to just give up on that kind of play this early in the game.

Angel was telling herself to be content with what she could get from him while the getting was good. She knew she was going to get hurt when it ended though. That was the nature of it, and it was just who she was. She couldn’t stop herself from caring, but she wasn’t willing to change the present to prevent the future, so she was well and truly screwed.

Kade had stopped his trail of deliciously punishing kisses and lifted his head to look her in the eyes. “Who said I’m going anywhere, Mouse?”

Angel frowned at his words, unsure if she had gotten his meaning right. Did he…? He couldn’t. But what if…?

Pressing in impossibly closer so that his hips fit snug up against her throbbing core, Kade propped one delicious forearm against the wall beside her head, bringing their faces so close, she could see the faint moonlight glinting in his copper eyes.

“You think I’m gonna bounce on you, baby? When I’ve put all this work into making you mine already?” He shook his head slowly, the tension in the air between them growing thicker by the moment. “Not a chance, Mouse. I thought you knew by now that I intend on keeping you.”

Angel’s lips parted on a small gasp, and she was certain now that she’d misheard him. No way in hell was a Spartan Rider choosing her over all the tail in the county. Unless…

“I’m not saying I don’t want to be yours,” Angel said softly, her voice merely a whisper and filled to the brim with uncertainty, “but I’m not interested in being a one-sided, open relationship.”

She’d heard stories—read them, too—about the women who hooked up with bikers. Things were always great, too good to be true, while they were still in the dating phase. But once the man locked the woman down, she became nothing but an anchor to the real world while he ran off boinking every female in the land as if he were still single. Meanwhile, the woman was expected to stay home and do her duties, wait for him to return home, and never ask questions or throw fits over his numerous infidelities.

Angel was not about that life. No siree Bob.

Kade had gone and gotten all serious, those heavy, naturally arched brows hanging heavily over his eyes as he stared her down. The heat between them had noticeably cooled. “Who the hell said that anything about this would be one-sided?”

Angel wasn’t sure how to respond to that. There was the truth, and there was the “truth.” She didn’t like to hurt feelings or pick fights, and she sensed that at least one of those two things was about to happen.

But how could she not express herself fully? Face-to-face, she felt compelled to answer, so she tempered her words. “I just don’t see myself being one of those complacent women who waits at home while you…do whatever you do.”

Kade’s frown molded into a scowl. “You think I’m the type to run around on my woman?”

“I mean…are you?” she asked, genuinely curious.

“No, I’m not,” he snapped, seemingly offended. “I would have thought you’d know that by now.”
