Yet just the sight of Everleigh casually dancing with someone had made him want to hunt the man down and wring his neck. Dangerous thoughts that he hadn’t seemed able to control no matter how hard he tried.

Now he stood here in this empty street, angry all over again because Everleigh had walked away from him. Because she had broken through his resolve to stay away from her.

“What do you want?” she asked, each deep breath making her chest rise and fall, giving him a glimpse of the swells of her breasts beneath her silky top.

“For you to come back inside.”

She looked away and muttered something under her breath.

“What?”

“Nothing.”

She bit down on her lower lip, the action reigniting his banked lust.

“Thank you for the invitation, but I don’t think us spending any more time together tonight is a good idea. I’ll find a ride back to the house.”

She started down the street, her hips swinging back and forth under the dress. The slit parted, revealing the warm ivory of her thigh.

Adrian caught up to her in three strides and blocked her path. He should let her go. But some unexplained madness drove him on.

“How? You don’t speak a word of Spanish, you have no idea what a taxi costs in Granada, and I’m guessing you don’t have any euros.”

Everleigh gritted her teeth, as if trying to control her temper. “I memorized the address of your mansion and I have a credit card.”

She tried to brush past him, but he stepped in front of her. Even though she was on the tall side, the top of her head barely came up to his chin. What if she came across a mugger, or worse, as she stumbled around Granada at night?

“I have no doubt you could find your own way back. But it’s after dark, you’re in a new city and you’re upset. Don’t be a fool.”

She blew out another breath and ran a hand through her hair, making those enticing golden curls kiss the tops of her shoulders.

“I don’t get it. One minute you kiss me like you own me, then you tell me it’s business only, and then you turn into an alpha ass because I have the audacity to dance with someone while you’re on the phone. And now you’re concerned for my safety.” She looked up at him, her eyes flashing in the dim light of the streetlamps before she refocused on the ground. “You frustrate me, and you anger me, and you’re sexy as hell and it’s driving me crazy.”

Each word hit him with the force of a freight train, sinking into his veins and fanning the banked coals of his desire into a raging inferno. He moved in front of her once more. She either didn’t notice or didn’t care. She stayed where she was, hands on her hips, eyes trained on the ground. The intoxicating passion radiating off her in hot waves enticed him like nothing ever had.

A soft moan escaped her and she lifted her tearstained face, her eyes meeting his. “Why won’t you just leave me alone?”

“Because I can’t.”

And with that pronouncement Adrian surrendered to temptation once more and kissed her.

The world slowed to a crawl. He tasted the wine on her lips, felt her surprise. She froze. And then she came alive. Her arms encircled his neck as she pressed her body flush against his. He groaned, the memory of how good she felt against him spurring him on as his hands tightened on her waist. The heat of her skin seeped through the silk of her top. He fisted his hands in the material so he didn’t pull the dress off in the middle of a public street.

Her lips firmed under his as she returned the kiss. She moaned, and the sound increased the desire that pumped through his blood to a fever pitch so intense it almost hurt. He moved his hand up and cradled her face, pulling her even tighter against him so he could feel her...any part of her that he could.

“Everleigh...” he whispered against her mouth.

The sound of him saying her name seemed to feed her lust. She pressed her hips against his and he groaned again. God, he wanted her. He wanted to see her naked, feel her surround him with her wet heat and hear her cry out as she came undone in his arms. He wanted to see her wake up, to watch a satisfied smile stretch across her face before she kissed him and let him savor her body again and again.

Before he could question himself, and before common sense could stop him, he dragged his mouth away from hers and kissed his way down her neck, over her chest and down. His hands cupped her full breasts, bringing them to his lips as her head dropped back in submission. One tug and one of her breasts was bare to his gaze. He bent down and placed the lightest kiss on its rosy peak, his groin tightening as her nipple pebbled under his lips. He sucked her into his mouth as her fingers dug into his hair, her hips bucking against his as she whispered his name and moaned.

Then the restaurant’s band struck up another tune, the fast-paced melody carrying over the walls of the courtyard. Everleigh’s hands slid down to his chest and suddenly pushed him back. His eyes flew open to see her staring at him, her mouth slightly agape, her hair falling in messy waves around her flushed face. She frantically pulled her top up before her fingers drifted up toward her lips, swollen and red from kissing.

A burst of raucous laughter sounded behind them. Adrian looked over his shoulder to see a trio of young men walking down the street, their boisterous singing an indication that they were well on their way to being drunk.

When he turned back Everleigh was halfway down the street. She glanced back at him once, eyes wide, chest heaving, lips still swollen. And then she disappeared around the corner.

He stood, rooted to the spot by the remnants of his desire and the volatile tide of emotions their kissing had let loose.
