“Eww!” Xavier squealed before dashing up the beach to his grandparents. Javier scooted over on his lounge and hauled the little boy up onto his lap. It still took some getting used to, seeing his formerly buttoned-up sire act like a teenager around his grandchildren. But Javier Cabrera had undergone a truly remarkable transformation, building relationships not just with his grandchildren but his sons as well.

“I want to tell them now,” Antonio said, his hand sliding down to cup her belly. He knew it was too soon, but already he imagined her stomach round, the feeling of new life kicking beneath his fingers.

“No!” Anna said with a laugh as she batted his hand away. “Tonight.”

“Did you hear from Sylvie?”

Anna nodded, her smile rivaling that of the sun shining overhead. “Another record-breaking quarter.”

Antonio kissed her cheek. Anna insisted that the cult following her designs had developed was possible because of Sylvie. But in the conversations he’d had with the older woman, he knew that Anna had revitalized the legendary designer’s brand. Her stunning designs, her passion for sustainable clothing and her genuine kindness had drawn in and retained thousands of new shoppers.

“Do you remember when you were first here and didn’t know if you’d make it as a designer?”

Anna rolled her eyes. “Blah-blah-blah. Yes, for the hundredth time, you were right.”

He tugged her closer, savoring the feel of her in his arms. “I was right about something else, too.”

She looked up at him, smiled. “Oh, yeah?”

“Yeah. You’re mine. Forever and always.”
