“You should get some rest.” Elijah dusts his hands off. “We’re leaving you the key, it’s in the door. Lock up. We’ll be back in a few hours.”

“Will you knock five times?” I mutter. “To let us know it’s you?”

He laughs. “I’ll just call out, will that do?”

“Perfect.” I turn to Mia who’s between Jason and Emrys, talking to them. Sindri is inspecting the shelves. “Off you go. Oh, and thanks, guys. You rock.”

Percy draws a quick mock salute, but his smile is warm. The others salute their princes and bow to Mia.

As it should be.

They leave, closing the door behind them. I follow to lock up, leaving the key in, and turn back to our little group. Jason has his mouth on her neck already, Emrys has a hand on her arm. I feel them. I need to touch her, be with her, but first…

“You are a Queen Witch,” I say. “You know that, right?”

Her gaze swings to me. Color rises to her cheeks. “So it seems. A potential one anyway. I never had any training.”

“We found documents in the file room,” I say gently. “You have the moth mark and it marks you as a Dark Queen.”

Her lashes dip low. “I swear I don’t mean you any harm.”

“We know.” Sindri sidles up to her with a grace of a cat. He puts a hand on her cheek. “You are our Queen. Our girl. You’re ours and we are yours.”

“What he said,” Jason murmurs, his mouth moving to her shoulder, pulling down her sleeve, leaving a trail of kisses. “I don’t care what color Ophelia is. She doesn’t do it for me.”

A choked giggle leaves Mia’s lips.

“I was dreaming of you.” Emrys’s hand moves up to cup her cheek, his teeth nipping at her earlobe, making her gasp. “Every moment her spell waned, my thoughts were of you.”

I walk around her, step behind her, slide my hands over her hips. “Hey, girl.”

“God, you guys…” She leans into our touch, voice choked. “I can’t believe you’re here. Don’t let me go again.”

“Never,” I vow.

We hold on to each other for a small eternity. It’s such a relief to hug her again, hug all of them.

Eventually, she turns her head, her dark eyes meeting mine over her shoulder. “We should strategize,” she whispers, “decide what to do the moment we are out of the Academy.”

“We have a few hours to kill.” She’s caught in our circle again, at our center. “I plan on showing you how much I missed you all this time.”

“Did you miss us, Almaya?” Sindri breathes and I catch my breath at the fae endearment, an old form of address between a King and his Queen from the old texts.

She lowers her gaze, her cheeks now crimson. The tips of her ears are red, too, I see, and it’s damn cute. “I have missed you more than words can ever say,” she says quietly, and a note in her voice has me sliding a hand up to grip her chin, turn her face back to me.

“Mia…”

She’s quietly crying, tears sliding down her cheeks. She’s shaking, and I don’t need anything else to know she’s telling the truth, to know she really cares for us. She turns a little in our arms, and we each now have an arm around her body, the other around each other, a protective ring, a wall around her. It’s instinctive, thoughtless, as if we’ve been doing it all our lives.

As if we were born for this.

Maybe we were.

Our heads bowed, we hold on to her until her tears dry, then some more, leaning against each other, letting this moment stretch, the feel of all of us together again. Back together, but different. So much has happened since the five of us have touched. We’ve been through various forms of hell. We’ve come to know each other better—mentally, physically. We’ve come through to the other end.

But being close to her—and to each other, too, dammit—is too damn arousing to stand. I have an arm around Jason’s neck and he’s breathing hard. We all are. I bet they’re as hard as I am right now—which is to say that my dick has the consistency of a diamond, hard enough to cut through rock.

“Mia…” I press my forehead to her shoulder, every breath I draw filling my senses with her scent, making me ache. I close my eyes, try to control myself because it feels like years since I last lay with her. “I missed you in so many ways, and my body missed you, too. My dick missed you. Fuck…”
