“For a reason,” I mutter. “Also, Zoey is insane.”

“I know. So I’m done with her. My cousin or not, I want nothing to do with her. I don’t know why I didn’t ditch her before.” She gives me an uncertain look. “Interested in a second-hand, good-quality, barely-used friend?”

I huff a laugh. “Definitely. After all, quality is all that matters.”

She surprises me by throwing her arms around me and hugging me tight. “Thanks. It’s good to see you well.”

“Right back at you,” I whisper. “And when you become a famous stylist, I’ll tell everyone I knew you once.”

“Ah, shut up. We’ll be friends forever.”

“I hope so.” I pull back. “Going to study. I’m so behind classes it’s not funny.”

“You had a lot on your plate.”

“But I doubt that will count toward my grades. See you later.”

“Take care.”

I will.

I find my boys later in the afternoon. I lift my eyes from the book I’m reading about magical world history because I realize that an expectant hush has fallen—different from the forced hush that is enforced in every library, rich and breathless.

Which quickly devolves into whispers and giggles, several girls peeking over the books and blushing.

Sure enough, when I turn around, there they are, tall and handsome, turning heads wherever they pass. But as soon as their eyes find me, the boys make a beeline for me, seemingly oblivious to all the girly attention.

It makes my heart race.

My boys. My lovers. My boyfriends. My men.

Not pets, not conduits, not sources. No way, not ever. They are everything to me. And the warmth in their eyes tells me once more that they feel the same.

Is this insanity? Falling so hard for them in such a short time, saving the world together, starting a family together? Most people would say it is.

But I know this is real. And it’s not just the magical bond we share. It’s the need we have for each other, how we complement each other. How we care so deeply for one another.

This is a bond meant to last.

“Your limo has just pulled up, m’lady.” Jason sketches a little bow, his green eyes dancing. “We’re here to transport you to the refectory for a sumptuous dinner.”

“Actually…” I whisper. “I’d rather be someplace only with you. Be away from other people for a while. Is it… is it weird?”

“No, it’s perfect.” He sweeps a hand at Ashton. “Ash, think of something.”

Ashton grins. “Let’s go to your room, and I will go with Emrys and fetch something to eat.”

“Deal.” I smile at them, aware that the whole library is watching. I take Emrys’ offered hand and get to my feet. “Shall we, gentlemen?”

Sindri takes my other hand and inclines his head. “Your pleasure is our command, my Queen. Let’s go.”
