“Don’t want to hear any buts, Maya. Let’s ride this out together and see how it goes. If you need a night away, go to your ’rents. If you don’t, stay here.”

“You’ll tell me if you need time alone?”

“I won’t want time alone, but fine.”

“Texas,” she whispered, getting in my face and cupping my cheeks. Hell, I wanted to laugh, but I didn’t. “We’ve only started dating and you’re talking about… well, it sounds a lot like me just living with you.”

I thought about it for a second and realised it really did.

Then I shrugged. “So?”

She groaned, dropping her hands from my face to thump her forehead on my shoulder near my neck. “You’re insane.”

“Don’t believe I am, babe. How about we just take each day as it comes? Like I said, if you stay here the night after working with me all day, it’d be good. If you don’t, I’ll still see you at work.” However, I had a very strong feeling she would be in my bed each and every night. There was a high chance I’d drag her there.

She’d eventually understand that I’d got her words clearly when she told me she’d been into me since she was sixteen. I didn’t care if I was late into the play and only been in love with her for over half a year.

All that mattered was that she was mine and I was hers.

I rocked my legs up, jostling her. “Yeah, Maya?”

She lifted her head and drew in an unsteady breath, but she nodded, and my fucking heart swelled when she said, “Okay, Texas.”

Grinning, I cupped the side of her neck. “Good. Now, I gotta check on somethin’ else.” She looked wary but waited me out. “I need to make sure you enjoyed our play in the shower. Don’t want you thinkin’ I was too rough with you or anythin’.”

Her cheeks burned with a blush. “Texas.” She shook her head.

“Need to know, babe.”

Sighing, she looked away and said, “I liked it. Um…” She licked her lips and the blush spread. “You weren’t too rough. You could, ah, go further.”

Fucking shit.

My spent cock tried to perk up.

I threaded my fingers through her hair and pulled her close. “Glad to know, babe. We’ll definitely fuckin’ explore that.”

“Okay,” she breathed against my lips before I took her mouth in a hungry kiss.

CHAPTERTWENTY-SIX

MAYA

“Babe.” Texas pressed a kiss to my shoulder. I groaned and slapped a hand back to push at him. He chuckled. “Told you not to have that last shot.”

Like a child, and since I was on the verge of losing my stomach, I mimicked his voice, “Told you not to have that last shot.” I took a breath and ignored his chuckle. “Texas. I love you, but now’s not the time to be a smartarse.”

I froze. I hadn’t meant to say that, and it was definitely too soon. We’d only been together a few weeks now. Though I’d loved him long before that.

He grabbed my shoulder and rolled me onto my back. My belly churned.

“What did you say?” he clipped, but his eyes said a lot more. They were lit with a heat I hadn’t seen before.

“Now’s not the time to be a smartarse?” I tried.

He shook his head. “No, not that.”

His hand slipped to my throat and applied a little pressure. “Babe, tell me.”
