CHAPTERSEVENTEEN

Perched on the brink of taking Emily’s maidenhead, Ace stared down at the woman he loved, her rich brown eyes fixed on his as she silently communicated everything he’d ever secretly wished for.

Her love, her commitment, her desire.

The force of her feelings rocked through him, building a certainty that he’d never been in a more perfect place or time. This was where he belonged.

With whom he belonged. He lowered his mouth, kissing her as he breathed in her scent. Everything about her was made for him.

Slowly, he began to push inside her. He felt her stretch to accommodate him, her body tensing and he stopped again, allowing her time to adjust.

Much as he wanted her, there was no rush. This was only the beginning.

“My love,” he whispered against her cheek. “Tell me if we should stop.”

“Stop?” she asked, her eyes searching his. “Why would we stop?”

“I don’t want to hurt you.”

She gave him a small smile. “You would never.” And then she kissed him, her muscles relaxing underneath him.

Slowly, he slid into her, her body tight around him, as he seated himself fully inside her.

Never had anything felt so intense like this.

She twined her arms about his neck, her lips locked with his as they kissed, completely joined as one.

And when he slowly pulled out only to push back in, he groaned at the pleasure that pulsed through him.

“Emily,” he groaned, burying his face in her neck.

She tightened her arms about his neck. “It’s you and me now.”

“Always.”

He started a slow rhythm, wanting to make sure she was comfortable, but when her hips rose to meet his, he found himself quickening the pace. She matched it, their lips still locked in a kiss as higher and higher they climbed together until he felt her clench around his manhood as a cry fell from her lips.

Her finish sparked his and he pulled out of her, spending his seed onto the blanket underneath them.

“Ace?” She stroked an idle hand down his back. “I likely should have asked this first but…”

“Yes?” He ran his fingers through her hair, as he looked down at her soft features and the light grin that played at her lips.

“When do you wish to wed?”

He laughed a bit. Had she grown concerned? She needn’t. He belonged to her, heart and soul. “As soon as your brother will allow.”

She smiled at that. “Do you wish to marry here or in London?”

He looked around. Here sounded quite nice to him.

Could his brothers afford to take the time to travel here? He’d want them to attend. “Here, if we can.”

“I agree,” she sighed and he rolled onto his side, pulling her with him and settling her onto his chest. It was the middle of the afternoon but he heard the sleepiness in her voice. He couldn’t blame her.

They’d hardly slept last night and now they’d satisfied their bodies again. “We’ll sort it all out after you wake, my love. But either way, we’ll be wed before the fall has turned to winter.”

She smiled as she traced the muscles of his chest. “That sounds wonderful.”

It did. He snuggled her closer, content for the first time in years. He had a future with Emily and that future had never been brighter.
