He took a deep breath. “I feel ridiculous asking this, but…I need advice regarding Selena.”

“In what way?”

“In the intimate sense.”

Bran lounged back in his chair. “I don’t follow.”

“What I mean is, I feel like a boy just out of his britches who doesn’t know what to do with a beautiful woman.”

His friend lifted his brows. “I think I understand. Have the two of you…?”

“Only once.”

“And were their problems?”

Christ, maybe he should have accepted that drink. He leaned his head back on the chair. “The problem is that I don’t know how to pleasure my wife.” Owen met Bran’s stare. “I felt like an animal rutting with my mate. There was no feeling, no emotional connection. I want to satisfy Selena, and I don’t know how.”

“So, you want to know how to make love to your wife?”

“In a way, yes.” From what Selena had said, their love life had not been much to begin with, but in the garden shed, he had seen her unleashed passion, and he wanted more of it—wanted all of it, and her. There was nothing he wouldn’t do to make Selena his, body and soul.

“It is a delicate situation.”

“As I said.”

Bran crossed his arms. “Let me think about it. I’m sure we can come up with something.”

“Thank you.”

“Do feel that tonight was a success?”

Tonight had been a double-edged sword. On the one hand, he had gotten to see what he had been like from other’s perspectives; the downside was, he hadn’t been the nicest person. “It was a revelation. If nothing else, there are parts of my business practices which will need to be rectified.”

“I have a proposition I’d like to offer.”

Owen perked up. “Go on.”

“I think you should go to London.”

“Why?”

“Think about it. You spent most of your time in the city when you weren’t with your regiment. Most of your business was in London. You have acquaintances there, clubs you frequented. There are certainly more people there who knew you better than I did these past years.”

Bran had a point. Selena had said she had them stay at Stonegate so he could recover. Well, he was physically fit enough to go to London. It made sense to return to where he had spent most of his time.

“Let’s speak with Selena.”

The men returned to the drawing room. Owen told Selena about Bran’s suggestion. Her face was void of emotion as she mulled over the idea.

“I think it is a capital idea,” Sarah chimed in. “It makes perfect sense.”

Owen sat next to Selena. “What do you think?”

“It is a good idea.”

“Will you come with me?” He took her hands in his. “I can’t do this without you, Selena. I need you.” It was the truth. Whether or not she knew it, she was his rock. The one stable thing in his life. Without her, he would be lost. He caressed his thumb over her hand. He would not beg. It had to be her decision.

“I will go with you.”
