Cat exhaled heavily at her. “We were having a moment. You ruined it.”

Inaya swept her gaze over each of us. “So no one else is thinking that such luck deserves a toast?”

After a long moment, Izzy weakly shrugged one shoulder. “All right, we can toast to that as well.”

Again, we touched our glasses to each other’s and took a sip of our drinks.

Inaya smiled at me, her eyes lit with mischief. “Now be a dear and tell us which of your boys has the longest—”

“Inaya,” hissed Cat.

Inaya’s eyes widened. “What? I was going to say ‘recovery time.’ Really, Cat, your mind is always in the gutter.”

I huffed. “Now you’re just deflecting.”

“I’d rather be dancing.” Inaya drained her glass. “We gonna hit the dome or what?”

Gesturing at the other glasses on the table—none of which were empty—Cat said, “We need to finish these first.”

Again, Cat, Izzy and I took a small sip of our drinks.

Inaya groaned. “If you guys can’t even toss back a drink you must be shit at swallowing.”

“Inaya,” said Cat.

The beautiful singer lifted her shoulders. “It was just an observation.”

Burn For Me

As a teenager, Inaya Rose Rafferty had two aspirations: to become a rock singer, and to marry her idol Kaiser Wolfe.

Her first dream later became a reality. As for her second, she shed that juvenile fantasy. Which is good or she'd be heartbroken over how badly their first meeting went. Not that she can take Kaiser's unfriendliness personally. The gorgeous rock legend is well-known for being blunt and rude.

He's also her new neighbor. More, he now frequents the Vault.

Considering he usually alternates between ignoring and glaring at her, Inaya doesn't expect him to save her from an awkward situation. Or for him to kiss her. Or for them both to soon become enslaved by the sexual tension that crackles between them.

She agrees to an arrangement, certain she can keep all her teenage fantasies locked away in a box. But the lid begins to rattle as lust and obsession twist and tangle until they become something else, something more, something that begins with 'L.'

Sexual chemistry had a lot to answer for.

Chapter One

Six years earlier

All I had to do was stroll over there and say hi. That was all. Easy.

Except it wasn’t.

Not a lot made me nervous. Not even performing on stage—that was a joy and a rush and a dream come true. But as I cast a subtle glance at another artist who’d be performing at today’s festival, my stomach got all jittery.

As a rule, I didn’t get starstruck. I’d only been in the music business six months, but I could chat as easily with a celebrity as I could with a friend. Fame simply didn’t faze me. Until this very moment … as my inspiration stood ten or so feet away watching as equipment was strategically placed backstage.

Rock legend Kaiser Wolfe had been my idol since I was twelve years old. I could still remember the first time I saw him perform on TV—owning the stage, oozing charisma, and commanding the attention of the audience. There was something entrancing about him when he performed. More, his voicecapturedyou. It was gritty, raw, and raspy; purred and growled andrangwith power.

And so my crush was born.

It was more of an obsession back then, to be truthful. It was cringeworthy, yeah, but as a teen I’d fantasized many timesabout how we’d one day meet. I’d imagined endless scenarios during which, after a single conversation, he’d fall for me right there on the spot.
