“Maybe, but we keep coming back to the same thing. You see this…” She holds up her hand with her ring on. “That is supposed to mean that you trust me to make the right decision. But if you only asked me because it made you feel more at ease then we need to call it off now.” She reaches the same hand across the table and takes hold of my fingers, joining them as I sigh. I’ll admit I’m a little jealous. But I want to see her succeed. “Troy. I love you. I want to marry you, but we have to have trust. If we haven’t got that we don’t have anything.” I do trust her, there’s no question about that but just appease her I nod anyway. I’m finding that with every moral sentence she comes out with, the harder it is for me to tell her. But I know that when I do tell her the truth it may kill her, but it’s something I have to do, no matter what the outcome.Yet again Mitch is making it hard for me even from the grave.

We need to talk.I’m on my way.

I shootoff a quick text to Noah as I’m jumping in my car to leave for work. After getting back from our day out yesterday, we spent the rest of the evening wrapped around each other on the couch, watching films. It was nice having her in my arms. Her whole mood was off yesterday, and I have no idea why. First it was about her dad and then all this shit with this fucking agent. I won’t lie, I don’t fucking like him, he seems too smarmy for my liking but hey, what can I say.Maybe she was just tired. She’d had a busy weekend with getting everything ready for the showcase and then cleaning up after.

All that’s on my mind as I’m sat in rush hour traffic is Emily. Our fights, her passion, my love for her. Which has never faltered, it’s only got stronger. The way she looks at me sometimes, it’s like I’m her knight in shiny armour. Pfft, I wish.

Driving on to the car park of Noah’s offices, I get out and press the key fob, locking my Range Rover up. Heading through the front door his secretary, Catherine, greets me with a welcoming smile. “Hello, Mr Parker. And how are you doing?”

“I’m good thanks, Cath. Is he free.”

“Yes, go on in. Coffee?” She asks, still smiling at me.

As I open the door, glancing back over my shoulder and smile back. “Please, yeah.”

“Morning.” Noah greets me grumpily as I walk in, a frown already settled on his brow as he shuffles papers on his desk.

“You look happy." I observe and smirk, “Monday morning blues?” I joke, sounding chirpier than I feel.

He blows his cheeks out. “Something like that. So,” he looks up and puts his attention on me. “What can I do for you?”

I inhale a deep breath through my nose and heave it out. “Emily.”

He sits up a little straighter. “Go on.”

“I want everything put in her name.”

“I was waiting for this. I can’t do that, Troy.”He drops his head into his hands, rubbing his temples with his fingers.

“Yes, you can. I’ve asked her to marry me. She accepted so half of everything will be hers anyway.”

“Troy, do you know what you’re doing?” His tone sharp as he fixes his stare on me.

“Yes.” I reply equally as sharp. Who the fuck is he to question my love for her. The only person I ever loved.

“You really should have a prenup in place before you do any of this.” He tells me carefully, like he’s trying to explain to a child.

“I don’t want a prenup,” I snap, “I don’t care if she takes all my fucking money. Maybe not my cars but she can take everything else I own. Mitch left her high and fucking dry Noah. I have to salvage that.”

“You’re not a fucking fixer, Troy...” he says through gritted teeth.

“Well, Technically, I am.” I cut him off, a deep scowl marring his features.

“And why the fuck did you not think to tell me that my best friend was getting married?” he sulks leaning back in his chair.

“Don’t fucking start.” My eyes roll, “Look, if we’re married, she gets half of everything. The business, the house, the money, there’s no problem. Fixed.”

“You need to tell her. You can’t keep this s a secret any longer, what about the gallery?” The door opens and Cath appears with coffee.

“Noah, your first client has just arrived.”

“Thank you. Just let them know I’m a bit behind this morning.”Noah tells his PA.

She smiles at us both and leaves the room.

“Look, where the gallery is concerned, that was her lawyer, I had nothing to do with that.” He sighs, “Maybe not. But you’re implicated.” He sighs, “I tell you what mate, I’ll do all this for you, if you tell her everything else and be honest with her. As much as I like Emily, and I think she keeps your pain in the arse self in check, I’m not doing this for her. I’m doing it for you. I’ll hold off until you give me the nod.”
