So, some middle fingers don’t bother me one bit.

In fact, I throw up my middle fingers and shrug my shoulders.

Once close enough, I say, “Hello to you too…?”

“You have the nerve to talk to us?”

“I guess so,” I say. “I’m such a rebel, huh?”

“I’m not helping her,” the other girl says.

“Help me with what?” I ask.

“You don’t know what to do here,” the first says.

“I guess not,” I say. “I’ve never been to a place like this before.”

“You reek of sadness. Who is your family?”

There’s a question I can’t answer.

I feel an arm wrap around my shoulder.

“Hey, Brianna, don’t you have to go work on your stretches?”

There’s another girl standing next to me. She’s got her arm around me.

“Fuck off, Maz.”

“You’ve fucked enough guys that you’re a tunnel. Got to tighten back up. That’s why nobody wants you anymore.”

“Can’t get too close to Brianna,” a girl on my right whispers. “You ever see those sea creature movies with the monster that has all the tentacles? That’s what Brianna has between her legs.”

“Nice glasses, nerd,” Brianna says to the girl on my right.

“Come with us,” the girl on my left says.

I shrug my shoulders and we all turn away.

“I’m Mazarain Beryl,” the one with her arm around me says. “Call me Maz.”

“And I’m Birdie Golda,” the other says as she pushes her glasses up her nose. “Call me Birdie.”

“I’m Jaci,” I say.

“That’s it?” Maz asks. “Just Jaci?”

“Jaci Ruby,” I say.

“Hmm,” Birdie says. “I don’t know that last name. Who are you connected to?”

“I don’t know,” I say. “I don’t even know why I’m here.”

“Did you get a letter?” Maz asks.

“Yeah,” I say. “A letter. And everything is paid in full.”

“Oh, fuck,” Birdie says. “You’re some mafia orphan. That’ll be fun for you.”
