This is my moment.

This might even be my night.

Maybe later Cullen and I will…

I strum the guitar and then stop.

The music around me echoes through my head.

My eyes are stuck at the bar.

Because ofwhois sitting at the bar.

Archer is here.

When we finish the song I don’t want to leave the stage.

Everyone is cheering for me.

The band is cheering for me.

Aidley puts her arm around me and kindly escorts me to the side of the stage.

“You’re amazing, Jaci Ruby,” she says to me.

I let out a loud laugh. “You’re my hero.”

“Anytime you want to play, let me know,” Aidley says. “But I have to go finish this show.”

I take the guitar strap off from around my neck and hand it to some guy.

Aidley rushes back on stage.

Cullen smiles at me.

I lunge at him.

When I hug him, he spins me around.

“What the fuck was that about?” I cry into his ear.

“Just something fun to do, love,” he says. He puts me on my feet and touches my face. “A reminder that not everything has to be dark and violent around here.”

I smile.

I don’t want to tell him about Archer being here.

I don’t want to ruin the night.

“Listen,” Cullen says. “I have to go handle some business. Find your friends. Enjoy the rest of the show.”

Cullen brushes his lips to my cheek and runs off.

I step from the side of the stage and look to my right.

I already know I’m going right to the bar.

Not to find Maz and Birdie.
