The three of us walk toward the door.

Next to Maz, somewhere near the woods, there’s a growling noise.

Following by a disgusting wet, slippery noise.

“Aw, the party is officially underway,” Maz says. “Someone is puking their guts out.”

“So soon?” I ask.

“Some people can’t handle their booze,” Maz says.

“Speaking of booze, I need a drink,” Birdie says.

We get to the door and she opens it and lets out adrunk girlyell.

I cringe.

Birdie is going to do anything to get attention tonight.

And poor Maz is going to be on the hook to keep an eye on her again.

Why?

Because Cullen Doyle is here and he’s already looking right at me.

Chapter 49

Irush up to Cullen, probably too eager to see him.

He lifts his hands up and has a drink in each.

“Ah,” I sigh with relief.

“Go slow, love,” he says. “This party goes all night.”

“You don’t want me drunk and stupid?” I ask.

Cullen brushes his lips to my ear. “I’d prefer us tipsy and fooling around.”

I laugh, put my hand to his chest and push back.

I have the weird feeling of someone looking at me.

I turn my head and see a figure across the room.

Dressed in all black with a black mask on their face.

When I look, they turn and walk away.

Cullen slips his arm around my shoulder. “What should we do first here?”

“I don’t know,” I say. “There are plans for this kind of thing?”

“That’s right,” he says. “You’ve never been here before.”

I snap my fingers. “Must have slipped your mind, huh?”

Cullen winks at me. “Just let the night move along. You’ll see what I mean.”
