Archer finally makes a move.

“Don’t do anything,” Archer warns Birdie. “I know you want to hit him. I know you want to spit on him. I get it. But you can’t. I’ve got this covered.”

Birdie nods. “Okay. Cover him back up.”

Archer puts the mask back on Darby’s face.

Then the tarp.

He shuts the back of the SUV.

“I’m going back to the dorm to go to bed,” Birdie says.

She turns and starts to walk.

Now I’m suddenly stuck between running after Birdie and talking to Archer.

Archer nods. “Go. I have to finish this.”

I step closer to Archer and grab his shirt with both hands.

I pull him toward me.

He grabs my hips and picks me up.

We kiss.

We fucking kiss.

I realize I’m making out with a murderer.

And the guy he’s killed is just a few feet away from us.

And it all turns me on.

Archer puts me down a few seconds later and spins me around.

I hurry to turn the flashlight on my phone back on and I chase after Birdie.

I can’t get lost in these woods.

Fuck - I’m already so lost in life as it is.

Chapter 62

Cullen texts me just after one in the morning.

Are you okay? I need to know.

I text back that I’m fine.

My fingers start to go wild, writing another text about what Archer did.

Then I realize this is the dumbest move I could ever make.

It’s like somehow I’m meant for this crazy mafia life.

I delete the incriminating text, then tell Cullen to meet me outside the dorm.
