That’s another scary part too.

More than just Archer’s evil eyes.

That probably sounds stupid because of course the knife is sharp.

It’s supposed to be!

“So let me get this straight,” I whisper. “You’re going to kill me for some dumb reason? You brought me all the way here for this? How much did it cost you or your family to pay for my tuition, right? They bring me here for this? You’re going to kill me and nobody is going to care.”

“You need to stop talking, sweet thing,” Archer says.

“You’re the one with the knife. Make me.”

“If I wanted to make you, I have something else I could put in your mouth.”

“Ah, there it is again. The dick talk. Huh? You think you could fill my mouth, Archer? With your big dick?”

Archer smirks. “Is this a last attempt to save yourself, Jaci?”

“Maybe I’m just horny right now. Maybe this turns me on, Archer.”

“You’re going to end up squirting by the time I’m done with you,” he says. He moves his lips to my ear. “But you won’t be alive to feel and enjoy it.”

My knees tremble again.

His left hand touches my right hip.

The tip of the knife eases from my chin.

“Is that it?” I ask. “Am I dead?”

“No,” Archer says. “You’re misguided.”

“Are we back to this honor thing again?”

Archer looks into my eyes. He’s even more livid. Yet for some reason he appreciates me more alive than dead. At least for the moment.

“You have your facts messed up,” Archer says.

“Why does it matter? If I’m going to die, who the fuck cares?”

“I care,” Archer growls. “I want you to understand everything when you look into my eyes and I kill you. I want you to feel the pain of it all. Not just your life ending. We both know your life isn’t worth a damn. At least not to me. But to others… you’re anHeir, sweet thing. You matter more than you realize.”

“What’s your point?”

“You think myself or my family brought you here?” Archer asks. “You think I paid for this?”

“If you didn’t, then who did?” I ask.

Archer curls his lip. “That’s the craziest part, Jaci.Once you find out… then you really will have to die.”

Igrab Archer’s wrist and bring the knife back up to my chin.

Then to my cheek.

“Do it,” I whisper. “Show me how tough you are. Does it get you hard, Archer?”

“I’m not sure you’re ready for the game you think you can play here,” he says.
