My lips quiver and I whimper in my sleep.

“It’s okay, love,” a voice says. “I’m right here.”

“I’m here too,” another voice says.

My eyes open.

Cullen hovers over me. Smiling.

His right hand strokes my cheek.

The same hand he used to beat Marty to death with.

Archer stands near my bedroom door.

Arms folded.

Staring at me with such force, I shiver.

“I was having a bad dream,” I whisper. “A really bad dream.”

“It was just a dream, Jaci,” Cullen says.

“How bad does your head hurt, sweet thing?” Archer asks.

“I’m good,” I say. I start to sit up and my head throbs. “I’m… we need to talk.”

“I know we do,” Cullen says.

“That’s why we’re here,” Archer says.

“Something is wrong,” I say. “I can sense it. I can feel it in the air.”

Cullen and Archer nod their heads.

“Does it have something to do with Seth?” I ask. “Where is Seth?”

Cullen looks at Archer.

That’s when I scramble to jump out of bed.

“You killed him, didn’t you?” I scream. “That’s why I feel weird. I haven’t seen him in a little while. You…”

“He’s not dead,” Archer growls at me. “Calm the hell down.”

“Don’t tell me to calm down,” I say. “Ever.”

“Jaci, listen,” Cullen says. He touches my shoulders. “As far as we know, Seth isn’t dead. And if he is, it’s not because of us.”

“What does that mean?” I ask.

“It means we haven’t heard from Seth either,” Archer says. “Not that we’re looking for the prick.”

“Then what I’m feeling is something else,” I say.

“I know what it is,” Cullen says.

He leans forward and kisses my forehead.
