Who is this man?
Who is he working for and why?
I run toward the dorm.
If I can get to Maz and Birdie, we can team up and take care of this guy.
He’s not young.
But he looks strong.
And mean.
Oh, and he’s really fast.
He’s gaining on me as I get closer to the dorms.
I look back again and the man is almost right on top of me.
I do the most cliché thing ever and I trip over my own two feet.
As soon as I start to fall, the man reaches out and grabs me.
With one hard pull, I’m saved from hitting the ground.
But I crash against this stranger.
I throw an elbow and jump forward.
The man laughs at me, grabs my arm and spins me around.
“Look me in the eyes, Jacine,” he says.
I gasp.
I freeze. “They’ll kill you. Let me go.”
“They’re not here,” the man says. “Finally. I finally get a second alone with you. I’ve been looking for you.”
“Who are you?” I ask.
The man smiles and stares at me with familiar eyes…
“Jacine… I’m your father.”
