“Why bother? You’re safe now. You’re right back where you wanted to be. I’m a hero.”

I spit on the ground in front of him. “That’s what I think of you.”

“I’ve never seen you spit before,” Seth says with a grin almost as evil as Archer’s.

When the first couple people notice me, the shocked look on their faces tell me my disappearance has been big news around campus.

And I’m sure that big news also means big rumors.

Nobody says a word to me though. Which is good.

I get to the dorm room I share with Maz and Birdie and I knock.

Seth looks at me and he makes a fist and starts pounding on the door.

Maz rips the door open, ready to scream and swing.

Instead she steps back and covers her mouth.

“Who the hell was…”

Birdie loses her words as she walks out of our room.

“Honey… I’m home,” I whisper.

I step into the dorm and Maz and Birdie let out a yell.

Then they pounce on me.

They’re hugging me. They’re kissing me.

Maz turns her head away, not wanting me to see her tears.

Birdie doesn’t care that I see her crying over me.

“Where were you?” Maz asks.

“What happened to you?” Birdie asks.

“You were kidnapped?” Maz asks.

“How did you escape?” Birdie asks.

“Did anything bad happen to you?” Maz asks.

“How did you get back here?” Birdie asks.

Before I can answer, Seth walks into the dorm.

“I gave her ride here,” Seth says.

“You saved her?” Maz asks.

“You’re a hero,” Birdie says.

“See?” Seth whispers to me. “Told you so.”

“He’s a really hot hero too,” Birdie says as she looks at me.
