Logan nodded and I feared he was upset and trying to not show it.

We began walking again and I ruffled my hair.

Shit. Maybe he is mad. He didn't say anything else. Maybe he's worried I'm gonna start liking men. Well…actually, I do like men, cause I'm a girl. But right now I'm a guy. So does he want me liking girls? Hmm...that doesn't sound too bad right now actually...but wait. Does that mean I'm bisexual? I don't think so. This is really complicated. Maybe I should ask Brax, but that might sound weird coming from Jinn instead of Jewel. Why am I referring to myself in the third person? Fuck, what is he—

Logan's hand slipped into mine, giving it a tight squeeze.

I quickly looked around to make sure no one was watching our interaction before I looked back at him.

"I'm not mad. I'm happy you're experiencing new things. Stop overthinking it,” he reassured me, squeezing my hand one more time before letting go.

He put his hands into the pockets of his blazer and began walking faster to catch up to Nixon, leaving me to stare at his back.

"He's gonna make me go crazy," I whispered under my breath before groaning.

Today is gonna be a long day.

“Why is Katherina here? I thought this was an all-boy school?” Logan grumbled as we walked into the classroom.

I passed him my book and went to grab us the required sheets from Ms. Landsford's desk, while he and Nixon went to find seats. Seeing Katherina threw me off and made me want to cringe.

"Please heavens. Give me the divine patience to survive this interaction," I quietly prayed, being the last in line to grab the papers.

"She's looking at you,"Alice's voice hummed in my mind.

I sighed, keeping my eyes on the eight sheets, taking three at once.

I got impatient with how long it was taking and snapped my fingers — the remaining forms I needed flew into the air and stacked themselves neatly into three sets while the ones I'd already picked up flew out of my grasp to join the others in their proper order.

"In all my years of teaching, you’re the first to actually use magic to your advantage to speed up this agonizingly slow process," Ms. Landsford declared.

I glanced over and saw her smiling widely as she approached me.

Her purple hair was a calming shade of lavender and was styled in loose curls that bounced with her movements.

She had her witch hat on, a dark purple one and wore a black dress to add to her mage look.

I had to admit, she still looked amazing and beautiful for her age with not even a wrinkle on her face. My mom was still beautiful and youthful, but after years of wearing pajamas and loose clothing, I rarely got to see her at her best like she had been when she taught here.

"It is rather annoying. Easier to use magic to lessen the tedious task," I replied, bowing my head in greeting.

The stapler floated off her desk and stapled each bundle before the three stacks slowly lowering into my hand and the stapler returned to its spot.

"I’m pleased to have you in my class Jinn Starfire,” she greeted.

"It's an honor to be here at Brighten Magic Academy, Ms. Landsford, especially with you as a professor," I praised.

I knew we were merely acting, but I was excited to be taught by her.

Mother had talked highly of Ms. Landsford over the years and Gabriel had praised her teaching methods over the other professors.

She would be our professor for Casting magic, Physical Studies, and Superior Studies which lifted a worry off my shoulders. With the amount of magic I already used due to the spell, other curious professors may question why my magic affinity was constantly flowing, instead of taking a break as would be the case if an individual’s magic was not being used.

I would have to thank the headmaster whenever I met her for changing Ms. Landsford usual teaching schedule for my sake.

"What is he doing here?"
