"Jewel, you're going home with Logan, right? Let's dance for a bit before you leave," Kage suggested and I lost my focus on Zane to look at Kage in surprise.

"You dance?" I asked.

"You think I don't?" he countered.

"Uh...well, not to be all judgemental or anything but you don't look like the dancing type," I admitted.

Braxton was a hell of a good dancer which I found out when a salsa track came on and Logan was good in various dances. Maximus was perfect for slow dancing but I hadn't seen Kage dance at all tonight. He gave me a wicked grin before he leaned in and kissed me right there.

I blinked in surprise, unsure if anyone from the last party was watching.

He pulled back and winked.

"I'll show you. Let's go." He spoke with such confidence, it was a big turn on, making me regret not doing more in that little closet space.

Damn pictures distracted me.

He turned back to Zane's shocked expression who glanced between the two of us before his gaze dropped to our joined hands.

"See ya, bro. Have fun with your crew," Kage said with no emotion.

He began to leave and I followed, our hands still joined as we went back to the party and headed downstairs to the dance floor.

When we reached the bottom floor, Nixon was leaning against the wall opposite from the stairs, a beer in his hand.

He looked at us with a small grin.

"Off to dance?"

"Yup. Wanna join?" Kage asked.

Nixon shook his head.

"Not my talent. Plus I gotta keep an eye on Braxton, Maximus, and Logan. They're still playing cards."

"With shots involved?" I asked.

"Yup. I can guarantee Maximus is going to be a goner. So I'll just make sure Logan doesn't drink too much." He winked at me and I blushed.

"Thanks," I mumbled.

Nixon and Kage laughed.

"Let's go dance, Precious," Kage whispered to me and I gave him a wide grin.

"Okay."

I glanced up the stairs, noticing Zane at the top — his eyes locked on mine.

Just in that second, I could see the debate going through his head as his expression flickered from sadness to one of regret.

Was he really okay with losing all of this? Losing his friends and part of his family, all because he wanted to be accepted?

Kage tugged on my hand, urging me forward and I glanced away, hoping the sadness that I knew leaked through my expression was enough to make Zane realize a part of me didn't want to lose him.

All I could do was hope that would be enough to make him think about this before the bonds between his friends and family were unrepairable.

SWEET LOVE AND MOVING FORWARD
