She reached for my other hand, sending shivers down my spine. Outside in the backyard, it was chilly, but now it felt like a jungle in the kitchen.

Unable to deny my attraction to her any longer, I locked eyes with her. When she didn't break eye contact, I knew she was thinking the same thing. Jen leaned in and kissed me. Her fingers toyed with the hair at the base of my neck. After a few seconds of passion, I pulled away.

"I'm really sorry I never had the guts to do that." I licked my lips, tasting her again.

"Listen, this isn't why I invited you here. Or why I wanted Wes to come over."

"I know. But I also know that I've wanted to kiss you ever since you walked through the door in my hospital room."

"You were unconscious."

I slid my hand up her thigh. Jen drew in a sharp breath. My brothers claimed Jen for their own, but I was entitled to something of my own, wasn't I? I might regret this tomorrow, but the only thing that I could think of right now was sliding in between her thighs.

"I want you naked." The words slipped out of my mouth before I could stop them.

"Let's move this to the bedroom." She held my hand in hers and led the way.

As I undressed her, I couldn't tear my eyes away from her beautiful shapely hips and thighs. I saw the way she appreciated my tight abs and flexed arm muscles. When I pulled off my boxers to reveal my gigantic erection, she gasped with delight.

"Are you happy?" I asked as I kissed her breasts and stomach. With one swift motion I yanked down her panties, revealing the prettiest pussy I've ever seen. I immediately leaned down to taste her. When I peeked at her to see how she was enjoying it, her eyes were closed, and she was biting her bottom lip. I grasped her hips as she arched her back and moaned. I climbed on top of her and plunged inside of her, my orgasm rocking me to the core.

"I need you as my mate." I lay still, letting the statement hang between us. What was going to happen? Would my brothers find out that I betrayed them?

Did she care about me or was she just lonely?

Although my mind whirred with questions, I lay still and hugged her closer, enjoying this delicious moment.

Chapter 30

Jennifer

Out in the darkness stood the beefiest biker I’d ever seen. I heard low voices that sounded like arguing and then the sound of skin on skin. Feet shuffling. The biker bobbed and weaved against some unknown opponent. He moved quickly for someone of his size. Then, he dropped to his knees. I dropped the curtain. Should I call the police? I didn’t want to cause trouble. Being alone while some big beefy men fight it out wasn’t my ideal scenario. It was interesting to watch, I guess. Kind of sexy. The best sex Tim and I ever had was after he was in a bar fight. I heard steps on the porch. The wood groaned and creaked. Someone was on the porch. My heart began to thud. A moment later, there was a loud knock at the front door.

“It’s me!” It was Wes. “Open up.” What was Wes doing here

so late? I hadn’t spoken to him since Jared’s proposal. And I knew that they had been talking to him. But, I realized that I was being a little quick to judge. They were all bikers. They probably all knew each other. Or at least went in the same circles. This was a small town. That’s the thing about trauma. Trusting someone seems like a leap. I missed them every day. Particularly Wes. Being alone was something I had dreamed of but now that I got it, the house seemed so empty. Shaking, I reached for the doorknob and let him in.

“Are you okay?” he asked, running his fingers through his hair. Today it was untidy with no gel. And his clothes were nondescript jogging attire. I sort of missed the era wear. I considered his question. With Jared’s proposal, our friendship felt wrong. But, all the same, there is no one I wanted to see more than Wes right now. I couldn’t share the idea of becoming a shapeshifter mate with anyone else. No one knew the predicament I was in except the triplets. From the day I met him, there had always been this heat between us. In fact, no other man had ever treated me with such respect. Finally, I nodded. “I am now.”

“Take a seat.” Wes said, leading me to the living room. “You need to relax.” A few minutes later, I was curled up on the couch while he put a kettle on the stove. “Are the girl’s asleep?”

“They’re with my mom.”

“Well, have you thought about it?” he asked, sitting beside me. My mind flashed to an image of Jared’s hands wrapped around Tim’s throat, and I shivered. “Tim has hurt me. Beat me. Screamed at me. I’ve wanted to kill him. In some dark times, I even fantasized about it. But, I never did it. Because he’s my children’s father. If I killed him, I wouldn’t have a problem looking in the mirror every day. It’s looking into my daughter’s eyes I’m worried about.”

“I understand.” Wes put two steaming mugs of tea down on the coffee table. He didn’t sit down.

“But…” The expression on his face was clear. Excitement mixed with a bit of fear. What did Wes have planned?

“I’m staying here tonight.”

“Wes…” I began.

“That’s Sir Alpha to you,” he said, smiling. “The decision is final: I’m staying.”

“He’ll kill you, Wes.” I hoped I was being dramatic.

“When he tries, I’ll be ready.”
