“You have never looked more beautiful than you do right now,” I say.

“That’s sweet but my hair is a mess and—”

I put my finger to her lips, cutting her off. “I mean it. You are absolute perfection, Aria Benson. You are a vision.”

Her cheeks color and she looks away but can’t hide the smile on her face. She’s a woman not used to receiving compliments. That’s something I’m going to have to remedy because she’s a woman who should be complimented daily. Hourly. She should be made to feel good about herself and it breaks my heart that nobody ever has before. But now that she is mine, I’ll make sure she never feels unappreciated like that again.

“You made breakfast,” she says.

“I figured I’d try my hand at making a meal,” I tell her. “I couldn’t be any worse than your effort last night.”

She squeals with laughter and slaps me playfully on the chest. “You distracted me.”

“Yeah, I suppose I did.”

She gives me a quick peck. “But it was worth it.”

I nod. “It most definitely was.”

After we ordered some dinner, we spent the rest of the night having sex. I had her every possible way last night and just the memory of it makes me want her again. She hasn’t showered yet which means she’s still wearing my seed on her soft, pale skin. I like that. It makes my mark upon her tangible. It’s a reminder to Aria that she is mine. That she belongs to me now.

I escort her over to the table and sit her down. She looks at the spread in front of her and lets out a soft laugh.

“Are those frozen waffles?” she asks.

“They’re not frozen anymore. I toasted them,” I reply with a grin. “I did make the eggs and bacon on my own though.”

Her smile is so warm and genuine, it makes my heart flutter. “It’s a wonderful breakfast. Thank you, Silas.”

“It’s the least I could do after last night,” I reply, giving her a suggestive wink. “Besides, you need to get your strength up for later.”

“Oh, is that so?”

I nod. “It is.”

We tuck into our meals, enjoying the companionable silence as we eat and drink our coffee. The whole scene is so domestic that it throws me. I’ve never felt the way I do right now. I’ve never wanted to feel so domestic before. And yet, with Aria, being at home with her just feels natural. It just feels right. It’s something I can really see myself getting used to. Unfortunately, there are some practical matters we still need to discuss.

“So, I hate to break the bubble we’ve been living in for the last couple of days, but we should talk about your case,” I say.

She chews on her piece of bacon and nods. “I figured it was probably going to come up sooner or later.”

“Well, the sooner we dispose of the case, the better,” I reply. “I mean, technically speaking, I could get into some real trouble for this.”

“I know. And I’m sorry—”

“I’m not. I’m not sorry at all. Spending time with you has been…unexpected, but incredible,” I cut her off. “And I want more of it. I want all of it. Which is why I’m anxious to dispose of your case.”

Her smile is soft. “I’d like that too.”

“Good. I’m glad we’re on the same page,” I say. “What I’m thinking of doing is talking to the DA and floating a deal out there. If we offer her a bigger fish like Lucas, we might be able to get you off the hook.”

She sets her piece of bacon down and frowns. “Does that mean…I mean…would I have to testify against him?”

“Probably. The more you assist them in taking down a bigger player, the better it is for you,” I tell her. “But if you want a deal, you have to offer them something of value.”

She shakes her head. “I—I don’t know if I can testify against him, Silas. I’m afraid of him. Like really afraid of him.”

“If he’s locked up, he can’t hurt you, Aria.”
