“What are we looking at?” Paris asked.

“This is the camera from Doug Peterson’s car.”

“I can’t believe he still hasn't noticed it,” she said.

“That surprises me, too, but it goes to show he’s not that sophisticated.”

They watched for a few minutes. When a cargo door opened at the end of the underground tunnel, Doug was directing people to carry out equipment.”

“Is that from the lab we think exists?” Paris asked.

“It sure looks like it.”

Rider did the math in his head. “If he's had hours, the lab could be empty by now.”

“Don’t worry,” Connolly said. “We rushed to Hollow Woods Resort to watch his progress. Not long after they started, the transfer stopped.”

“Why?” Grayson asked.

“Apparently, there was a little rebellion.”

“By the workers?” Rider asked.

“Yes. When I spoke with Sergio Gonzalez, he mentioned that Delancey gave homes to his upper level management team from the drug lab. Turns out, they didn’t want to lose them,” Connolly said.

“Are you saying if we go into the lab now that some of the equipment and possibly the drugs are still there?” Rider asked.

“That’s my guess.”

Rider paced and then checked his watch. “If we could get in now, we could take photos to show what's going on. The general has had a lot less proof before.”

“I think I know how we can get in undetected,” Paris said.

“There is nowehere, sweetheart. I want you safe,” Rider said.

She held up a hand. “I meant you all. Not me.”

“That’s better. How?”

“When I was in the tunnel, Delancey took me to his escape hatch.”

“We saw that on your camera,” Grayson said.

“Then you saw how I pulled back the latch and tried to lift it up, only I couldn’t?”

“Yes, because there was too much dirt and grass on top. When I first located it, I didn’t want to clean it off, because I didn’t want the guards to realize we’d found it,” Grayson said.

“I figured that. Even Delancey tried and failed. But here’s the thing. He never pulled the latch closed.”

Rider snapped his fingers. “You’re saying that if we clear off the lid, we’ll be able to open it?”

“I think so. Unless someone came in after us and closed it.”

“What do you all think? Would Delancey ask his second in command—whoever that might be—to close the hatch?”

“There’s only one way to find out,” Mick said. “Try it.”

For the next half hour they plotted how this would go down. In the end, it was decided that Charley would station herself halfway down the hill with her rifle, ready to slow down anyone who tried to escape. Rider, Grayson, and Liam would go down the hatch and hopefully be able to find the lab.
