“She has a stalker.” He explained about those photos.

“Ariel can’t catch a break it seems. It’s as if someone doesn’t want her interfering.”

“That’s what we think,” Benson said.

“If you could send those pictures to me, I’d appreciate it. I’m not sure what I can do, but I’d like them anyway.”

“I’ll do it now.”

“I'll forward them to Mick McLaughlin, the man General Armand told you about. Who knows? Maybe he can tell where they were sent from.”

“I already did that. I’m waiting to hear back.”

“Great. Let me know what you find out.”

“Will do, and thanks for the heads up on Walter.”

He disconnected and pulled into his driveway. Before Benson went inside, he checked his appearance in the mirror. If Ariel commented on any of his injuries, he’d say that two men who taught fighting techniques were in town. They’d sparred for a bit, and Benson was scratched. She’d buy that.

When he entered, Preston and Ariel were on the sofa talking. Her legs were resting on Preston’s lap, and he was massaging her calves. Benson wasn’t sure he could touch Ariel that way and not show signs of a shift.

“Hey,” Ariel said. “Did you finish your work?”

He sat down. “I did, but it wasn’t about work exactly. Two men, who are acquaintances of a friend of my Uncle Adam’s, were looking for a place to run their business.”

“They needed a prosecuting attorney for that?” she asked.

Benson smiled. “No. They teach people how to fight. Remember, you asked if I could handle myself should we run into trouble?”

“Yes.”

“These two men, Alex and Liam, are here to make sure Preston and I can deal with any trouble that might come our way. I thought it would make you feel better about us going against any gamblers and drug dealers if things turn violent.”

It seemed to take her a second to understand what he was saying. “You’re going to learn how to defend yourself better?”

He smiled. “I am.”

“Then thank you. When will you start?”

He lifted his shirt. “I already did.”

She sucked in a breath. “What did he do? Knife you?”

“No. The man had sharp nails.” That was the only spot that hadn’t healed yet.

Ariel swung her legs off of Preston’s lap. “If you have some bandages and disinfectant, I can clean your wound for you.”

Benson debated what to say. He supposed his fast healing would look more reasonable if he let her tend to him. The problem was that they didn’t have much in the house in the way of medical supplies. “Since we weren’t expecting to fight, I don’t think we have any bandages here.”

She bit down on her lip, causing his cock to harden.Shit. “I can clean it up with soap and water.”

“I’ll tell you what. Let me take a shower. I bet it will look better once the blood washes off.”

“Distract her,”he telepathed to Preston.

“I’ll be happy to.

"When I return, I’ll tell you about my call from the sheriff.”
