Page 90 of Meant for Them

Beth shrugged. “I probably would have been too. Grasping the reality of something like that will take some time.”

Ariel tossed back most of her wine. “What am I going to do?”

“Take your time and think things through. Knowing you, you’ll figure it out faster if you make one of your lists of pros versus cons.”

Beth was a good friend. “I like that. Have any paper?”

Beth grinned. “You bet.” She tossed back her wine and then went in search of the requested items. She returned a few minutes later with paper and a pencil. “You can use the coffee table book to write on.”

“Thanks.” Ariel picked up the paper and drew a line down the middle. One column, she called reasons to stay, and in the other she labeled, reasons to leave.

“Start with why you should stay with them,” Beth suggested.

Ariel hovered her pen above the paper. “They’re good in bed.”

“Just good?”

“Fine. They are amazing, considerate, and mind-blowingly fantastic.”

“Better. What else?”

“They seem determined to make sure that I’m happy. They are also great at protecting me.”

“Let me grab the rest of the wine. This may take a while.” Beth hurried to the kitchen and then returned with the half empty bottle. “I’m thinking if you decide you don’t want them, would you mind if I try to seduce them?”

“Go ahead, but if what Benson said is true, werewolves have one mate and only one mate.”

Her eyebrows rose. “What will they do if you leave them? Be celibate for the rest of their lives?”

That was almost funny. “They didn’t seem to have any problems finding willing females before I came along.”

“That may be, but do you think they told any of these women that they loved them?”

Ariel sagged. “You’re confusing me.”

“Sorry. How about listing the cons? It might help clarify why you are having trouble leaving them all together.”

“Perfect. Top of the list is that they are werewolves but never told me.”

Beth dipped her chin. “What if they had told you that first night when they suggested you stay with them?”

She tried to think back to that night. “I know I was scared shitless of the stalker. If Benson and Preston had told me they were wolves, I never would have invited them into the bedroom. Hell, I probably would have called the sheriff’s department and asked someone to come get me.”

“I’m thinking the men knew that. When would have been a good time?”

Ariel tried to replay the days in her mind. “I guess it would have been too traumatic to tell me after I’d been hit by the car.”

“You think?”

Beth wasn’t helping. “I see your point. There was no clear cut best time.”

“Let me ask you this. If memory serves me, you said you’d consider marrying them. That tells me you love them. Do you still?”

CHAPTERTWENTY-SEVEN

“Yes,I do, or rather I think I do. Hell, I don’t know any more if I still love them,” Ariel said. “They are werewolves!”

“You need to figure it out and soon.” Beth sounded rather stern, but it was clear she was just trying to help.
