His gaze moved around the room, taking in the faces that were seemingly mostly familiar to him, except when he looked atthe women, at Dale in particular. When he spotted her sword, a devilish little smirk toyed with his lips.

“What’s the matter?” he asked, and his voice was pure sin. “Aren’t you happy to see your old boss, boys?”

No.

I mean… no way.

Their old boss?

They were demons.

They worked in Hell.

Was this man… theactualdevil?

CHAPTER SIXTEEN

Bael

I could feel her softening toward me.

And not just because of the orgasms. Though, yes, I was sure those helped. In no other way than to allow her to let down her guards, so she would allow herself to feel what was going on inside of her.

What was going on seemed to be… affection. Interest.

Not love.

Not yet.

But softness.

Something that could turn into love one day. If I was patient.

And I did have all the time in the world.

Unfortunately, in those critical moments after we both came and were feeling closer than ever before, the damned visitor decided to make his appearance.

For me, personally, all I felt was a distant sort of interest. Especially because Arick had felt the need to warn us of this person’s appearance, so it was likely a big deal.

I didn’t feel any sort of fear or uncertainty.

Until I heard Charlotte following me down the stairs, her face still flushed, her hair unkempt from the fucking.

The rush of protectiveness was something I’d only felt once before. When I’d heard, then seen, her getting attacked.

Every fiber of my being wanted to rush over to her, to wrap her in my wings, to usher her the fuck out of potential danger.

But then the door was opening.

And there was our prophesied visitor.

The fucking Devil himself.

The silence in that fucking foyer was loud as fuck as all of us just stood there, staring, not quite believing what we were seeing.

Because he never left Hell.

He… couldn’t even if he wanted to.
