Tears were already blurring him in front of me as I nodded, and I couldn’t stop them from coming faster as he sank to one knee in front of me. They were happy tears. I wasn’t sure I would ever be happier than I was in this moment right now.
“Will you marry me, Lena? And stay with me forever?”
“Of course I will.” I managed to hurl myself at him before I fell apart completely. Jude kissed me, lifting me up as he stood and spinning me around.
It was a long time before he set me back on my feet, and longer still before we broke apart, both breathless and nearly sparkling with joy.
“I love you.”
I leaned my head on his chest. “I love you too.”
“Here.” He pulled a small black box out of his pocket. The ring was white gold, tiny diamonds twisting around the band and swirling around a larger center one, and it fit perfectly.
“I’m never going to take it off.”
“I like the sound of that. And I already know it’s the only thing I want you wearing when we get home.” He smirked, leaning down to kiss me one more time. “Well, that, and the high heels.”
