“You’re indeed a Blackwood.” He jerked his head once. “Headstrong, mouthy, and honor-driven.”

“You haven’t seen anything yet. You’d better run while you have the chance.”

On Earth, the Blackmoon Pack, mypack, was respected throughout the werewolf community. Once I’d arrived here, I was touched to learn that wolves from the Blackwood line were favorites of the Goddess, as well.

“So . . .” I crossed my arms over my chest and watched as his gaze took in my every move. "What will it be? Will you run from me again?"

Just then, I noticed the silver chain around his neck and the small ring dangling from it. “Your necklace, does it belong to someone special?”

He didn't take his eyes off me, not once, but they darkened when I mentioned his necklace. I wasn't jealous. Really. I was simply curious because it was clearly a woman's ring.

"I like brave women, but next time you want to take a stroll in the forest, I'll join you," he said, not answering my question. Then he released a breath and looked towards the entrance. "It's late. I should get going."

So we were doing this. He wasn't going to reject me or ask me to reject him?

I smiled. “Okay.”

“I don’t have my bracelet.” He pointed to the silver bracelet on my arm that all new souls like me got on arrival. They were used to make purchases, calls, and teleport. Those born in this realm had gold bracelets. "So I can't share my contact information, but I’ll see you soon.”

This time when he turned away, I didn't stop him. I followed him slowly, and as he opened the front door, he removed the towel from around his waist. My nails dug into my palm as I watched him place both towels on the handle of the door. Then he glanced at me over his shoulder, his brown eyes turned black, and he vanished!

I rushed to the door, stunned at how fast he’d moved.

He had disappeared so quickly, it was hard to believe he’d been there at all. But his scent lingered in the house, especially strong where he’d stood by the door. But soon, it too was gone.

Still, I hadn’t imagined the visit. He was here. My mate was here.
