I poured my chaos into the monster, and its body began to rot. It thrashed about, its gurgling roars of pain falling on deaf ears, and my chaos held it down. I cried as the beast died, and once the rot set in and it was almost dead, I rushed to Hydum.

“Hydum! Hold on!” I fell beside him and winced when Tedara screamed in my head, her voice as clear as day. “Hydum!”

It wasn't my voice that called him the second time, and his eyes widened. I could feel Tedara, like a force pushing through me. The part of me connected to her slipped through.

Hydum looked happier than I'd ever seen him, and he touched my cheek.

“Mother,” he said. Then his bloody hand fell from my cheek and his eyes turned white.

I shook him. “Hydum! Hydum!”

He was gone, his body was limp with death, and the Goddess appeared a few meters away, her silver eyes glowing beneath her hood.

My mouth went dry, a chill filled the air, and my eyes blurred with tears, but when I wiped at them, I saw that I was crying blood. Tedara was wailing in my head, her pain inseparable from mine.

Chaos exploded from my mouth, engulfing both Hydum’s body and mine, and he was pulled into me. I lost control of my powers as our bodies molded into one, and an armor made of chaos settled over my body.

Murder, vengeance, furry like a flesh-eating disease, held me in its embrace, and I stood up. I held my arms out, and chaos covered them while legs like a spider burst from my sides.

What the hell was happening to me?
