“Call me, Morana,” she said. “My name is Morana, and I got these scars when I tried to save my sister."

There were three slashes across her face—one from her left ear to the tip of her left eye, another from her jaw, across her nose, and over her right eye to her right temple, and the last one, stretching from under her left jaw and across her lips.

Seeing her now, I realized her eyes weren't just silver—she was blind. But even with her scars, she was gorgeous. The stars on her face glistened like diamonds, and her scars looked like permanent shooting stars.

“Goddess,” Elinor muttered. “Er, I mean, Morana…I’m so sorry.”

Morana smiled and walked to us. "Don't be. I hid my face out of shame. My sister and I weren't twins and physically looked so different, but we shared the same face." She smiled sadly. "I didn’t just hide my face from everyone, I hid it from myself.”

She took a deep breath. “She was the sun, and I was the moon, and she was everything to me. I felt I didn't deserve to show my face after I’d failed her so badly. I felt hideous and didn't want anyone to see me…or see her in me. I couldn't handle seeing her every day I looked in a mirror.”

She exhaled through her mouth.

"Thank you—all three of you. Each of you has taught me so much, and I'll never be able to repay you for that. Elinor, you fell in love with a vampire, and he loved you—a child of mine and one of the creatures I wanted eradicated. Although I hated the vampire species, I never hated him. So, one of my sister's children remains, and she's also in Brian now, too. And that’s because of you.”

“Ruby…” Morana held her hand out to her. “You’ve faced so much hardship throughout your life on earth because of me. I’m so sorry. But you taught me to push forward against all odds, no matter what. So, I'm going to send you back home."

Ruby pulled her hand away. “No, really? do you mean to be with Xavier?”

Morana nodded. "Yes, you and Axel will be sent back to earth, and your memories will be wiped. You can't take the knowledge of the God Realm with you, but you were right. The three of you on earth will bring about a great change. And when the day comes that you all return to this realm, you'll remember everything."

Ruby hugged her. She threw herself at the Goddess—ah, Morana—weeping with joy.

I wiped at my eyes. “And you,” she said, releasing Ruby and turning to me, “I don’t want to see any tears. You saved my home, my sons, me—and you gave my sister the justice she deserved by kicking the Demon King’s ass!”

We all laughed with her, and she took my hands. "You three are all exceptional women. Time called me beautiful, but then he said something no one could hear. Telepathically, he told me that my sister isn't truly gone, not when the three of you embody her so well."

She hugged the three of us at once, but when we heard voices, we pulled away. A few of the gods were walking by—including Fate, the goddess of destinies. When she saw Morana, her mouth dropped.

“I have one more person to apologize to,” Morana said. "Excuse me."

We watched her leave, and Ruby clenched her fists, shaking with joy.

“I’m going home,” she exclaimed. “I’m going home. I need to tell Axel.”

I hugged her. "You deserve this. But I'm going to miss you."

She squeezed me. “I’m going to miss you too. Too bad I won’t remember anything. I would love to be able to tell Xavier that you made a Dragon King your bitch. But one day.”

"One day, we'll all be together," I said as we released each other. "Besides, I'll be keeping an eye on you guys from here. So I'll be with you, even if you won't know it."

I watched her while she hurried off to search for Axel, and Elinor looped her arm through mine.

"I'm proud of you," she said, as we started walking back through the city. "You didn't think you could handle this, but here we are."

“Here we are,” I said, my voice low as we looked around. “Now we’ll have to rebuild.”

I nodded to the gods and souls who greeted me, and Elinor and I continued on until I spotted Rehema and Brian huddled to the side. I stopped when I suddenly felt their emotions, and Elinor frowned.

“Are you okay?”

I laughed softly. “Yeah, I’m okay.”

Tedara had left more than just a little of her chaos to me, it would seem, but I didn't mind. Rehema and Brian had finally told each other how they felt, and all was good. Rebuilding the cities would take some time, but healing the deeper wounds from the war would take a while.

Still, we would get through it, and the God Realm would be better than ever. Because I was not, under any circumstances, going to fight another bloody war.
