She’s a quirky, sensitive woman with hidden depths that I long to plumb.

I settle her in the huge four-poster bed. She looks beautiful lying in my home. In my bed. Or one of my beds.

This house is built for our future. Five bedrooms and an office where I can work because as soon as she’s mine, I’m going to stop going in every day. My business basically runs itself anymore. I’ve hired good people who do good work. They can work a day or so without me so I can spend more time getting my little angel knocked up. Tying her little ass to me so hard that she can’t work out how to undo the knots of our lives. Until she realizes that this is forever.

I know she’s scared. Hell, so am I! But I just can’t take anymore sleepless nights, waking up hard as a fucking rock from dreams about her. Fantasies of our future. Raunchy dreams that I can’t escape from.

I stalk away from the temptation she embodies and shut the door behind me, drawing in a shaky breath.

My dick is so hard that I can’t take a deep breath. I’m seconds from exploding and I turn back to the door, my hand reaching out to touch the pad again.

But I pull back. She’s exhausted. I could see it in her eyes.

She’s good at what she does but she’s driving herself crazy. The author she works for has her doing double and triple duty and I’m pissed as hell at him.

He needs more help than her. He could easily afford two or three personal assistants instead of just her. But he’s a quirky asshole and he doesn’t like a lot of people around him. But he likes her.

Too bad for him. He might need a new personal assistant soon. Real damn soon if I can help it.

I groan and take a detour into my bedroom. I grab clean clothes, grimacing at the cheap costume I bought for tonight. I hope I never have to wear it again. The cheap fabric is giving me a rash, I swear. But the heat in Brandy’s warm golden-green gaze was worth it.

I rip it all off and toss it to the side. Then I stalk, naked, into my attached bathroom. Turning on the rain shower and dialing it so damn low that I can feel the chill outside the glass enclosure. I take a deep breath and step inside.

“Fuck,” I growl, shivering at the cold spikes hitting my heated skin. My dick shrivels in the icy water. I glare down at it. “The shit I do for you, asshole.”

I stand there, my head hanging down, leaning into the wall and letting the water drip down my body.

After ten minutes, I crawl out of the shower my blood frozen.

I dress quickly. Then I open the door, growling when I hear someone banging on the front door.

Stalking down the staircase, I fling the door open with a growl.

“What the hell do you want?”

The woman on the front porch jumps back with a simpering smile. “Hello, Judas. I thought you might have some issues with the house and I wanted to make sure that you’re still happy with your purchase.”

She tries to peer around my shoulder but I shimmy around so that she can’t see inside the hall.

“I’m still good. And I’ve told you that multiple times, Miss Gentry.”

She giggles and her hand drops to run along my arm. I glare at her but she pretends not to notice. “That’s what you say. But I try to keep all my clients happy. And you’re definitely a special case.”

“Because I’m new to town or I’m rich?” I ask her dryly.

“Don’t be rude. I’m just looking out for you.” She smiles but it doesn’t reach her cold blue eyes.

“Well, as I’ve mentioned. I’m good, the house is good and I really don’t want company right now.”

I try to shut the door in her face and she sticks her foot in my way.

I growl under my breath and consider slamming the door on her foot.

“I really need to get back to work, Miss Gentry.” I stare at her foot pointedly.

“Of course. I don’t want to disturb you. I just wondered why we haven’t seen more of you in town.”

“Because I like my house better than the town.”
