I did not know what I was saying or whether it was true, but it scared him. So it was good. His reaction goaded me to keep going. I wanted to see him explode.

"Maybe they are already hunting you and your organization. You should pray that they don't send you a bomb, because they won't mess it up." I had never gotten to see how Dario behaved in situations like this, but I could picture it. And it was this picture that I channeled now.

"They will find you. And then the rest of your short, miserable life will be absolute hell."

His punch right in my face caught me off guard. My lip burst open and I tasted blood, but still couldn't help but laugh out loud.

"Shut the fuck up, bitch!" he yelled at me.

But instead of waiting to see if I would, he left the room in a hurry. All the time accompanied by my murderous laughter.

Emilio leaned in the doorway and looked me over from head to toe. The three hours were almost up, and so far there had been no call or message from Amedea. My nervousness had skyrocketed, and I was already working on a plan, trying to figure out how long it would take for my people to turn the city upside down.

I didn't come to a satisfactory conclusion, but I didn't let Emilio's presence irritate me either. I'm sure he wanted to make sure that I didn't act on a whim, and that I kept to the agreement I had made with Vince.

Carlotta sat across from me, but stared at her smartphone with disinterest for everything around her. Natale and Fiero were also still in the vicinity, always casting a glance in my direction.

What did they believe? That I might explode any second because I didn't have enough patience to wait three hours? Or that I would do something stupid that they would have to fix?

The ringing of an incoming call tore through the silence. My gaze shot in Emilio's direction, who pulled his smartphone out of his pocket far to calm, glanced at the display, and picked it up.

"Amedea?"

Relieved, I let my head bang on the tabletop. Finally. If she told him she was stuck and couldn't find Gia's location, I had free hand and could do what I felt like.

Emilio approached me, placed the smartphone on the table and activated the speaker button.

With a raised eyebrow, I looked at him. "Can you repeat that, Dea?"

"Of course," her voice came through to me. "It wasn't easy, but the store across from her apartment has a surveillance camera. So I could look at the car and find the license plate number. The first thing I thought was that I would have to get into the city's traffic control, but then it occurred to me that the car was a rental. The company that rents the cars has a GPS tracker built into the more expensive models."

Could she get to the point?

"And an S-Class is definitely one of them. Unfortunately, the guy at the rental place wasn't cooperative."

"Give me the address and I'll make him cooperative," I growled.

"No need. I persuaded him with a generous payment to let me have short-term access to his computer. I pulled the program, along with the data, onto my hard drive and can track where the car is right now."

I pulled myself together to keep from yelling at her. "You're the best, and if Gia is safe, I'll buy you whatever you want but please send me the damn location already."

Emilio's smartphone vibrated, and I grabbed it before he could stop me. It only took me a second to forward the link to myself before I tossed him his phone.

"Thank you! But now I have to go." I jumped up and walked straight to Emilio's office and to the weapons locker hidden in the far corner.

The combination of numbers had never changed, so I equipped myself. Vince appeared in the doorway and I held out a gun to him as well. He nodded and took it.

Carlotta appeared next to him. "You don't have to give me anything, I'm already armed."

"If she's going, I'm going too!" Natale yelled from the dining room.

Something told me that Emilio had no chance of stopping all of us from going to that address and giving the Frenchman a good ripping.

I looked at my two siblings with folded arms. I had reckoned Vince would come, but not Carlotta.
