A playful smirk tugged at his mouth as he leaned in and kissed me. “It’s not my fault I can’t keep my hands off you.”

“It was amazing.” I stretched out beside him, feeling a delicious ache between my thighs. “We really owe Nate, huh?”

“We?” Zane leaned over me, arching his brow.

“Well, yeah.” I frowned. “We are a we now, are we not?”

“If that’s your really obvious way of asking if you’re my girl, then that would be a hell fucking yes.” Zane rolled me underneath him, caging me in with his arms. “If we’re quick we probably have time to—”

“Okay, lovebirds, time’s up,” a voice boomed. “We’re heading to Crêpe-a-licious for breakfast. You have fifteen minutes to move your asses.”

“Fucking Carter, cockblock.”

“We need to find him a girlfriend,” I said. “Then we can all group date.”

“Have you met Kye? He goes through girls quicker than Miller goes through weed.”

“You make a good point.” Whoever set out to tame Kye had their work cut out for them. But he was a good guy, his heart was in the right place. “I tamed you, didn’t I?”

“More like cast a spell on me,” Zane said. “Feel free to break it at any— ouch, what the fuck, Einstein?”

I released his nipple and smirked. “That’ll serve you right.”

“Jesus, you crazy woman.”

“Correction, I’myourcrazy woman.”

“Hey, assholes, let’s go!” Kye banged on the door again.

“He isn’t going to stop until we show our faces,” I sighed.

“Fine,” Zane huffed. “But after breakfast I want you all to myself again.”

“Or… we could go hangout with Grams. I’ve missed her.”

Zane froze, staring at me with a strange expression.

“What’s wrong? Did I—”

He crashed his lips down on mine, kissing me so hard I felt a little dizzy.

“Wow, what was that for?” I asked a little breathless.

“Want to know a secret?” he whispered. “I think one day I could fall in love with you too.”

Celeste

After breakfastwith Zane and our friends, Nate gave me a ride home. I felt nauseous at the thought of telling Dad about Zane, but I refused to hide our relationship. Who I dated was my choice. And while I didn’t need his permission, part of me—the part raised to be the perfect congenial daughter—did want his blessing.

“You okay over there, Rowe?” Nate asked as we pulled up outside my house.

“Yeah, I’m fine.”

“Are you sure? Because you look like your blueberry pancakes are about to make a reappearance all over my leather.”

“I’mfine.”

“You know, Celeste, even if he’s pissed, what’s the worst that could happen? He disowns you for a while. Cuts off your allowance. You’ll figure it out.”
