“Coach is going to shit a fucking brick when he sees the state of you at early practice,” I hissed, trying to drag Kye’s sorry ass into the house.

We’d been out here for hours, shooting the shit while he got high.

I’d abstained, determined to keep a clear head in case Grams needed me. Besides, practice with a hangover was no joke.

I managed to wrestle Kye into the kitchen, but his cell phone started ringing.

“Get that, will you?” He slumped against the counter, chugging the glass of water I’d gotten him.

“Yeah?” I answered without even looking at the screen.

“K-Kye?”

“Clo? It’s Zane. What’s up?”

“Is Kye there?”

Glancing over at him, I grimaced. “He’s… uh, he’s unavailable right now.”

“Shit, okay.”

“Clo?” My spine straightened, not liking the trace of panic in her voice. “What’s wrong?”

“It doesn’t matter, I’ll—”

“For fuck’s sake Chloe, just tell—”

“Celesteisdrunkandidontknowwhattodo.”

“Shit,” I muttered. “How drunk are we talking?”

“She’s pretty wasted. I got hold of some vodka and… she didn’t handle it very well.”

“Where are you?”

“At Maddox’s house.”

“Motherfucker.”

“What?” Kye murmured.

I waved him off and stepped out of earshot. “No way Kye can come and get you. And I don’t have a car.”

“So borrow Mom’s. You know she won’t mind.”

“Did you call Harleigh?” Celeste was her sister, she could deal with this.

“No. No way. You know things are weird between them. Celeste just needed to cut loose.”

“Stay put. I’ll be there in ten minutes.”

“Thanks. You’re the best. And Zane?”

“Yeah?”

“Go easy on her.”

I hung up, cussing Chloe under my breath. She couldn’t just stay out of fucking trouble. And what the hell did she mean Celeste needed to cut loose? What could possibly be that wrong in her life of luxury that she needed to come to the other side of the res and get wasted with Chloe, and Maddox West?
