"Maybe, but now you're a sitting duck with ahell of a lot of protection surrounding you."

"Right. I suppose I should be grateful for that."

"Yes. In the meantime, when I went to class the other day, Andrew asked about you.”

I groaned. "Right. I forgot about all that mess with him wanting to ask me out. How is he now?"

"Oh, he's not good. Pining over you like a rejected puppy dog. He wants to know why you haven't been around the last couple of days. He even popped by my place. I think he assumed you’d be with me after the thing with your flat. I said that you just have a lot going on personally. He looked a little sad that he wasn't in the know, but it's probably better that way."

"Yeah, absolutely better that way. He’s too much to handle on top of everything else."

Except an incoming text told me I’d be dealing with him sooner rather than later.

Andrew:We need to talk.

CHAPTER 14

SAINT

"So just like that, she agreed?"

I winced at my brother's question.

Trevor was popping wheelies in his chair which he knew irritated the fuck out of me. And I resisted the urge to stop him from doing it. He did it to annoy me, but I assumed it was fun. I couldn't turn off the gene that made me want to look after him. Didn't matter that he was a grown man.

"She didn't quiteagree, but it's happening."

Adrianna kicked off her shoes and hopped off my desk. She treated my office as if it was her sitting room. I tried to ignore them both as I poured myself a sparkling water. I really wanted scotch, but if I was going to need to iron out my relationship with Kaya later this afternoon and what it meant to All Saints, then I was going to need all my wits about me. "What do you mean she didn't quite agree? Is there anything you won’t do to keep the old man away from us?"

"Hardy har,” I said with a rolled eye. “You’re hilarious. Honestly. Remind me again why I bend over backward trying to save you two?"

Trevor smirked. "No one asked to be saved."

I pointed at my sister. "She did.Sheasked to be saved."

Trevor shrugged. "It's not my fault that you can't resist her. It's that twin bond and all.”

"So who's the woman?" Adrianna asked as she tucked her feet under her on my soft gray leather couch. I supposed with the sunshine streaming through the floor-to-ceiling glass, my office did resemble a sitting room.

"Someone who needs help. It's an advantageous relationship."

Adrianna’s sharp gaze focused in on me with all the intensity of a hawk suddenly aware of a delicious morsel. "You didn't tell her, did you?"

Fuck.

I rocked back on my feet as I slipped my hands into my pockets. "No. I didn't."

Trevor chuckled and spun his wheelchair around. "Oh my God. You're an idiot."

Adrianna shook her head. "Oh, this is such bollocks. She's going to leave. And we don't have time to find someone else."

"We have plenty of time. She's not going to leave. She needs my help. You worry too much."

My sister threw up her hands. "Except she doesn't knowshe'shelpingyou. What is wrong with men? Do you people grow up missing that gene that makes all these little connections?"

"It's fine. Besides, she has a lot on her plate. The less she has to think about this, the better. Also, work made it pretty clear. They don't want her read in."

Trevor just kept laughing. My sister though, she looked furious. "One of these days, you're going to twist yourself into a pretzel trying to be everything for Rogues and everything for us and everything for the board members. You will need to make a choice about what you want and what you need to be. But it's like you've already made your mind up."
